Street Altered if you squint

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by swade41, Oct 1, 2008.

  1. I changed the look around of my car this afternoon, raised the front a little over two inches and swapped the wide whites for mags and also the air cleaners. I plan on running it like this for awhile and need to pick up some rear (dare I say) radials. I remember a few posts about the truck tires but is there anything that doesn't look like a truck tire ?
The rims are 8.5 wide and the old tires were 29 inch tall, those slicks are 14 X 32's, I know of a pair of drag radials (275/60/15) which are 28 tall and 11 sidewall. I was just looking for something that has an older appearence if you squinted hard enough...lol

I dig it. What is the radiator shell off of? Looks pretty deep.

Here are two pictures of 265/70R15 on 8" steel smoothies. If you need me to take a different angle picture just let me know! Sorry about the ugly truck they are attached to! :D

  7. Thanks, the height looks good suposed to be 29.5 and a section width of 10.8. There's about a 34.00 dollar difference between those and the shorter drag radials, I wish those were taller...

  8. I want to pick up those drag radials but not sure if they'll look short, here's the same size on the car.
What do you think of this size 275-60-15 that's on there ?

Get a set of m/t ET streets and smooth the side.. has the apperance of old slicks and are DOT appoved ....I like em.

  11. Really nice look with the slicks . . . but I definitely wouldn't run them on the street.
More than a few guys lost some nice cars during the drag slicks on the street fad that hit in the late 50's.

Even a foggy day will get you and when it rains?
    Nuff said there.

Are you going to go with a narrower front tire?
    How wide are your wheels?

I have a pair of 5" x 15" steelies on the front of my 31 and the
    165R/80-15 tires have a 4 ½" tread width and are 25" tall

Tires this size should work on up to a 6" wide wheel.

Here's a pic of the 31's front wheels and tires on the 32.

I ran em on the 32 for a while to see if I'd like a narrower tire an wheel on it.
I do and am setting up a pair of 4 1/2" x 15" slot mags for it.

This pic shows the older tires on a pair of 5 1/2" x 14" slot mags.
Not bad, but could be better.

Shown here, the same 5 1/2 x 14" slot mags and a somewhat narrower tire, but it still doesn't make it looks-wise.

The ole' HotRod looks very cool with the slicks .........

  15. Thanks, I ended up going with a set of 275/60/15's on the back about the size of the old L-60's. I liked the big extreem of the slicks but it just wasn't possible to run those on the street.

  16. c9 your roadster shows up everywhere lol
