Yea we all have them street rod dreams, I have in the past had many different street rods everything from a 1965 Chevy van to sixties muscle, 78 fire chickens 70 something van rods and loved them all. Some of my happiest days were heading out in my street rod to a car show most times it would be something still under construction half done and in primer but man those were the days, chilly cook offs and listen to Eddie and the pistons on stage .HAPPY DAYS .Most recent I had a 68 Firebird put a lot of time and money in it and had it just were I wanted it and then it happened I had no clue I thought I was a muscle car guy through and through. The bug hit me and in a big way and now there is no turning back I wanted more then anything a 1927 to 34 coupe or sedan and just could not get it out of my system. I was driving muscle but was fanatical about these oldies. The only thing I could think of doing was trying to find someone who would be willing to trade me straight up and I started searching day and night. I mean that’s all I did was search the net, local adds day in day out I became sick with it .I started to become somewhat depressed about it don’t get me wrong I loved my firebird I had over 14 grand invested in it and it was sweet but it just didn’t do it for me any more . I must have offered it to 100 people may be more any one I came across with an oldie. No one was interested and I understand why , who in their right mind was really going to be interested in trading good old American iron for my muscle ,and the ones that did show some interest was offering a shit deal – for me anyways .and then it happened I came across a car about 5 hours from where I live. I sent him a couple pictures of my car and some of the big block under the hood and sent my proposal, a even heads up trade for his 1929 ford sedan all stock and no rust he wasn’t even sure if it would run , I didn’t care I just wanted it .I checked my Email and waited for a reply the next day there it was he was interested he said send some more pics. I was so happy I was busting, I thought this might be the one .finally we agreed to a phone call and he said he was really interested and that if my car was as nice as it looked in the pics he would most certainly trade me. So I went out and rented a trailer and loaded my car up for a 5 hour drive I was so scared that I would invest my self in to this deal and get there only to drive home with my own car on the trailer . I set out on a Sunday morning at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:time Hour="5" Minute="0">5:00 am</st1:time>, what a long ass drive that was, I finally got there around <st1:time Hour="10" Minute="30">10:30 am</st1:time> and my car was covered on the trailer. I uncovered it and pulled it off the trailer the man took a walk around it and grunted a little but didn’t say anything. He spent the next hour walking me around his property showing me all his projects and toys. I felt like you do when you come to a farm and the dog comes out barking and smelling and you just know if the dog doesn’t like you the farmer wont either. But an hour later and chomping at the bit the deal was good, he was happy and I was ecstatic. We shook hands signed titles and I nearly pushed that Ford up on the trailer by my self. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough fearing he would change his mind. And there you have it I am now the proud owner of a 1929 Ford sedan. A completely stock Ford sedan its in great shape no rust none but its bone stock and I just want to street rod it, its all I think about ,hell I dream about it ,I thought the hardest part of all this would have been getting the car , I see now I have a long way to go . Just recently a friend of mine gave me a 48 flathead engine; I still need to go pull it. I realize I have so much to do before I can see myself driving down the road in my street rod I need so much and have so little. Hell these days I am lucky to make my mortgage every month, the wife wont let me spend a dime on the rod but I can’t wait till I can pull the body box the frame throw a new rear under it and a drop axel in the front with hydraulic brakes. Then get that flat head engine in there. And I would love to chop it at least 4 inches. So much to do so little money. The wife said she was going to contact overhaulin and have them take my car. I said that’s nice honey but I want to build my car not have someone else do it for me and I am pretty sure that show is no longer on the air. I wish I could get a hold of all the parts needed to do this, and I want to go with old parts like they did back in the fifties. I am a very happy man I got my car, the car I will own for the rest of my life and that’s half the battle it’s my street rod dream and I can’t wait to drive it because I know its going to be bad ass.

Welcome to the H.A.M.B. ... thanks for the introduction (even if it was on the main board instead of in the Intro section).

Now please take a moment to introduce yourself to the "Enter" key of your keyboard ... it works wonders in breaking up your posts into readable paragraphs. :D

You should also take the time to Read This First! ... it might help you to understand this place a bit better.

In the right context, the discussion of "Street Rods" (& other old cars) is tolerated/welcomed on this site ... however, you should be aware that "Rat Rods" are taboo around this place (i.e., the Mods will delete the post or thread).

Best of luck with your '29 Model A Hot Rod Sedan ... and again, welcome to the HAMB ... I think you'll find it a great source of information and hours of entertainment.
