Newbie to this hobby. I bought what i would call a street rod today.I do'nt have the ability to build a rod from the ground up like some of you do. So i bought mine. I have 2 boys 12 & 14 hope to get them more interested in the car hobby. The car is a 1948 CHEVY 305 motor, auto tranny . Rear end not sure. Will find out more when i get it home. Some custom work has been done but still some work to be done yet. Car is about 200 miles away. will try to drive it home. We also have a 1961 TBird that is in the restoration process. thanks for the time
That sounds like a nice family cruiser. What's the plan? As you told us about it I expect that plans call for making it HAMB friendly as far as wheels, tires and engine trinkets go.
everyone has the ABILITY . Ask Lots of questions , do lots of reading and take your time , It'll grow on you like a bad rash . lol
Sounds like a great plan to me to share it with your boys and build it the way you want. Have fun and post pics!
cool man. and like stated above, everyone has the ability. just dive into it man, whatever you might come across. itll be a great learning experience for you and your sons. im 20 and im in the middle of doin a frame off job on my apache. first car or truck ive ever built, i have not a damn clue what im doing but im havin a blast learning
Sorry guys , not everyone is mentally capable of working on or building XYZ . As a former auto shop instructor & someone who has been around mechanics of all sorts for 65 years , some people simply do not have the aptitude or dexterity to work on things. That's why we have other vocations !! dave
Make sure you too any intro in the proper place... Many of the members here have street rods BUT we concentrate on traditional hot rods and customs over here. You'll have to learn the differences... or you'll have a tuff time if you start posting pix of an 80's pastelpaintmobile or some R*t R*d... respect the vibe we have here and you'll learn more than you could ever imagine. Now about that intro again...
Welcome to the HAMB....Sounds like a nice HOT ROD that you bought....You've come to the right place to learn all you need to know about wrenching on it...These guys on here know their stuff...If you are ever in doubt about anything pertaining to your hot rod, these guys will hook you up...their knowledge and smarts are incredible...Good luck with that 48 Chevy hot rod !!
