where can i get the the 7'' disc from ..i want the ones that screws onto the angle grinder..i looked at lowes and home depot all they have are the 4'' that go's on a drill ..a part number would bee cool to thanks
Which ones are you talking about? The flap wheel style, or the Scotchbrite type, or the black fiber ones? The flap wheels, you should be able to find at most any hardware store or your local Farm and Barn supply store (Tractor Supply might have the 7" also). I buy the Scotchbrite discs, and the black fiber finishing discs from Eastwood. Not sure about part numbers or prices. Hope this helps.
The black fiber ones work the best, in my opinion. They strip paint like a SOB, but hardly touch the metal. The flap wheels work great for grinding welds. They strip paint like mad, but they also grind away the metal in the process. Scotchbrite works good for taking surface rust off of bare metal, and also for making bare metal look pretty.
orchard supply hardware has them. I'll bet your local ace hardware has them also. not sure if they have these stores in Georgia??? harbor freight sells the small ones for your grinder. I bought a bunch of the 4" for my grinder and they seemed to work quite well. I bought a 7" and didn't like it as much. I stripped 3/4s of a 57 chevy.. good stuff.
yea i know they work good ...but i sprayed some rustoleum and got over spray all over my bare metal 54 frontend..hood fenders .its a pain in the *** using the wire brush..i want to do it quicker
a couple of the ads for the nylon mesh wheels say they have a 4,000 rpm limit. thats about half of what they say the rpm range of some right angle grinders are. is this a concern? or do they seem to work fine with regular grinders?
You might have to get an arbor for the black fiber wheel. Not sure if they offer those with a built-in arbor. I get mine at industrial supply houses. If you don't have one local to you, then try an online one, like possibly McMaster-Carr.
i recently stripped a whole car, actually my girlfriend did, it was her car, using the stripit discs. tried both the 3M brand and the harbor freight cheapies, the harbor freight ones lasted about half as long as the good ones, FWIW.
