I thought the same thing! lol. I had a garage full of paint dust cause I was worried about noise and the neighbors. Working outside is far more pleasant.
Unless you are a neighbor. j/k

    AMEN!!!!!!!!
I spent tons of time and did some damage to my metal stripping my car for paint recently. After getting about 3/4 done and going through numerous flapper discs, I stopped at the hardware store and saw these paint stripper pad discs. Finished the car with one, and could have done the whole car with maybe two of them, and way less effort!
    What a great product!

Please what is a da sander?

  15. did my whole caqr with these as well. they work great and no metal damage.

  16. A DA is a random orbital sanding tool. Good for clean up after striping, feathering paint and can work for paint removal, but it's slow. With ANY abrasive paint removal, sanding grinding, or striping disks you need to keep the speed down. If at any time you cant lay your hand on the surface comfortably, your getting it too hot. As for the disks flying apart, anything will if its spun too fast. Also always sand off the edges and seams.

DA = Dual Action.....does the random orbit thing as stated above. Kinda goes roundy round, and jiggles while it does it.... make a great Stripper (at least in theory) as well.... <grindy-grindy, roundy-round, Jiggly-Jiggle> It just sounds right though.... :D:D:D

Take a small ss. wire brush across the face while its spinning .cleans out the crud .Worked for me.

  25. I use a 8" stick it pad and a 36 grit disc. I run that on a 7" polisher sanders at about 1000 Rpms. My goal is to cut the paint film thickness by 1/2, not to metal. That doesn't quite happen and ill get to metal in places. That takes less than 1 hour to get the whole car that far & uses about 3-4 discs. Movement is fast, paint chips are large and fall not fly. Switch to am 80 grit disk and repeat with a goal of taking 1/2 of what's there again. This will leave lots of bare metal despite the goal. That again takes less than 1 hr and about 3-4 discs. Switch to 80 on the DA and finish it up. Back to 36 and remove old filler done.

My loocal Ace Hardware also sells the good paint stripper pads that have a hard back so they wont come apart. $9 ea., but well worth it!

I sealed my car body with POR-15. There are some brushed on areas that came out bad (Old stored away POR-15), so I need to sand, strip or grind it off (Just the front fenders).
I'm not looking forward to it.

  28. Have fun with that:rolleyes:. And just in case you didn't know most POR-15 products have no UV protection in them and they turn into a chalky mess when exposed to sunlight so they may not be the best for doing a car body with.

That was a typing mistake, I've corrected it, but I wonder why I write and type mirror images of some letters. The "g" for a "d' in Grinder is a good example "h" and " u" "p" and "b", is there a doctor in the house?
