I purchased 4 Stromberg 81s from a HAMB member recently who assured me that I would be receiving a complete set in good rebuildable condition. Well one was missing part of the linkage which isn't too big of a deal because those parts seem to be readily available at a reasonable cost, however two of the carbs have a 1" base plate which I believe is the 97 base, while the other 2 have the 7/8 base plate. Its disappointing, but in this day and age I guess I'm lucky that I got any carburetors at all. I am trying to make a matched set of 4 to put on an Edelbrock 4x2 with straight linkage. I realize the venturis I have all match and will flow 125 cfm, but my concern is that without matched baseplates, there is bound to be unsynchronized flow through the 4 sets of throttle plates when run on straight linkage. At WOT it likely won't make any difference, but the reason I spent the bucks on the 81s is to attempt to have at least some driveability between idle and WOT. I think I know the answer to my own question which is to find two more 7/8 base plates, or perhaps it is easier to just find two more 1" plates since the 81 venturi will limit my cfm anyway. Either way, I'm guessing that as long as I have 4 matching base plates then I should be okay. Thoughts?

I have several EE-1 baseplates available. They have been blasted clean and painted black. I am interested in your EE-7/8 base plates. I would trade you 3, EE-1 base plates for 1, EE-7/8 baseplate. If you are interested, and would like pictures, I need your e-mail address to send pictures. Thanks, nick.
Thanks for the offer. The seller has promised to go good on the deal. I have shipped him back the EE-1 plates. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
