I picked up a stromberg 97 to put on my 28 Model A. It has the original flathead 4 banger. I was told this carb is too big and wont run properly unless I change the jets and power valve to something smaller (make it a stromberg 81). Anyone running a 97? Anyone running a 97 with smaller jets and valve?

  6. Or 2 :D Mine was beefed up a little but loved the dual carbs. I think a single 97 on a stock A will work fine with a little trial and error tweaking

A few years back I ran my '30 tudor with a stock B engine at a hill climb in Auburn, CA. After 2 runs I changed from the stock A carb to an 81, it cut my time by a full second! Later I changed to a 97 and gained another 3 tenths. You will notice a big gain with the 97, start with the stock .045 jets and tune from there.
