After testing my Stromberg 48's I noticed that my accelerator pump discharge nozzles (jets?) were squirting out the side of the curved portion as well as the end in the center venturi. After removing them i could see a hair line crack on the curve.
    Is this common on strombergs?

I tried searching through older posts but didn't find the answers i need.

My question is, how do I properly install the new tube with the wedge on the end?

There was mention of a punch type tool the help drive them, does anyone have a picture to help illistrate this?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the punch you seek can probably be created from a pin punch or similar...basically by grinding the end at an angle base of angles of approach possible in there then using a cutoff wheel in a die grinder to make a groove to set over the actual tube. ***ist with a small unaltered pin punch as needed for odd angles.

How hard do I drive the new nozzles in? hand pressure? small hammer?

I would call it light tapping with small hammer. Just go all around with whatever punches will reach and get it even, remembering that the basic casting is about equivalent to aged cheddar in strength...also of course check protrusion on the original wedge cone as a guide of sorts.

I believe we are discussing the pump tubes, the curved ones with conical wedge.

Ok, I received my new nozzles, but when i try to put them in the tip doesn't enter the hole in the venturi because the conical wedge is already hitting the body of the carb.

Is the conical wedge suppose to slide on the nozzle tube??

I tried sliding it by hand but no go. I'm cautious about forcing them.

Slide the conical wedges back and forth on the tubes to loosen them up. A little lemon juice usually frees 'em up. Place the small tapered ends in the holes and make sure the swedged ends are protruding slightly into the minor venturiis. It might take some gentle tapping. Then, if you don't have the correct slotted punch, tap on the large ends of the tapered cones with a 1/16" pin punch - round & round - until they're snug in the casting.
