Hey all, My '53 Buick with Stromberg AAUVB-267 2 barrel floods itself after sitting when it's got a warm motor. It's a new carb to the car (looks it, and the PO said it was), but after experiencing this problem I took it apart, replaced some gaskets, everything looked good. I don't think it's choke related. If it sits for 5-10 minutes or more...it starts hard and kicks out the black smoke. It reeks of gas when it does this, obviously. The float level seemed good when I had it apart but I haven't taken out the sight plug with it running yet. Does anybody know these things well? Is there a smoking gun problem area I should be looking for? Any help is appreciated!
Had the same problem with the 1v holleys on the Econo. I put bigger phenolic carb spacers in to isolate them from the heat of the intake manifold and a heat shield over the header and that did the trick. If you can't figure out the cause, this may cure the symptom anyhow.
I appreciate it! I've been looking through the shop manual and my choke unloader may not be pulling the flap open enough...I guess I just haven't gotten use to using the gas pedal to start the car...These old Buicks are a little different! If this doesn't work, I'll work on isolating the heat!
