Those Garage Journal guys are crazy. Already date coded the Stromberg socket. Made in 1949.

I'm one of the wire guys, keep them strung on a single strand of copper, sorted by size then all in a ziploc bag in a surplus electronic equipment box.
tools are as found, usually at estate sales.
here a Plomb jet wrench with misc carb tools in a Carter Carburetor tool box.

My first thought seeing the printed box was that it kinda reminded me of some fuse panels I’ve seen in hot rods placed on the inner cowl side. Which then made me wonder how hard it would be to make one of these boxes into a little travel tool kit and put it right under that cowl mounted fuse box.

maybe make matching boxes for each of them?
Some case foam could get rid of the rattling but between the grid and the printing the options seem pretty unlimited.

Timm, Have you been to Harry J. Epsteins in KC yet? They have some nifty little Japanese boxes that they recently started carrying.

if you haven’t been, it’s a tool history shop and everything is for sale.

I have some of those Toyo boxes… I use em for stationary and what not in my office. They are pretty nicely done stamped steel.

If one is looking for "portable", a fishing "dry fly" box is compartmental, light, and easily fits in the glove box.

After trying to use some of those currently made shitty jet wrenches I looked in a vintage snap on catalog that one of my pals had, found that jet socket part number and plugged it into eBay and bought one. The description didn’t even mention stromberg jets but that is what it was. I left the saved search and they kept popping up and like the idiot that I am, I kept buying them and now have maybe 20 of them…..they really work well

I just use those daily pill containers that you use to set up your doses for the week. In the machine shop my grandpa used to say, "Don't make work were there isn't any".:D Nice little project though.

  21. IIRC that socket is # TM-42. You can find them on E-bay frequently. If you don't have the socket on perfectly straight while trying to remove a stuck jet you may crack the socket. I already cracked 2 of them. E-bay is my source for replacement as the Snap-On truck can't get you a replacement.

Okay...made me show my "jet" box..itz a KAR Products box...you can find them at swap meets from time to time. The plastic containers are Gerber baby food containers...they fit perfect and double up the tray space IMG_20250605_064949566.jpg

Can someone post the Snap-On part numbers for the 97 jets socket and the power valve socket?
I have been using plastic boxes for 94 pieces & parts and have a couple of the clear plastic flat trays drilled for Stromberg jets.

    Post 21 had a Snap-on part number...and the one I have is a TMC 42
I use a flat blade screwdriver to loosen and snug the power valve and the pictured split blade screwdriver to retrieve and place the power valve from its depths with just the carb top off ....saves on removing the whole shebang ....I also find it helpful to chamfer the accelerator pump bore opening to assist with reloading a wet pump leather so as not to fold the lip over on the leather

Found at a sale for less than a pair of rebuild kits. Crammed full of NOS parts. Sometimes you get lucky.
