Technical Struggle with shoebox door weatherstripping

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SDrocker, Jun 3, 2023.

  1. Sounds like BS to me. No where in a chop do you change the thickness of the door. if the outer skin of the door and window frame line up with the outer jam NOTHING changes between the door and the jam!

Junior Conway used ‘56 F 100 door w/strips to help with this problem.

Interesting was it used for just the top portion?

Is there a rubber seal between the door and jamb at the hinge end? Too much rubber there will magnify the problem on the other end.
On my F-1 pickup doors I had to leave out that front of the door rubber piece to get the doors to shut with the new weatherstrip. That front rubber piece was actually bending the hinges when trying to shut the doors. Might be worth taking a look at....

Thanks there is rubber there and could definitely be making it much harder to close that side. If I end up t******* any of it out that’s where I’ll start.
