A guy I know has a blown BBC and is trying to get the balancer off, crank is double keyed because of blower drive...He is using a puller and it moved about half way and stopped, stuck....He tried more force and heat and no budge..He hasn't resorted to cutting it off [well as of the 11th] so any advice? Engine is out of truck and pan off and he doesn't plan to reuse balancer as is upgrading..I said I would ask at the best place knew; Thoughts? ...

I blasted a nitrous line onto the center of the crank to freeze it and pull one off once, worked like a charm...

Tell him to make sure he took the washer out of the center hole.

Wouldn't have moved half way if he left the washer in...

might have galled, in which case it probably needs to be cut off.

  6. Yep. That's my guess.

Die grinder, series of shallow cuts. (puller installed, damper will move when stress is relieved.)

Dry ice might work too. Or pull the crank and press it off with a shop press.

Thanks guys, he's probably took a hachet to it by now..LOL..We did figure that cutting it was going to have to be done because it galled somewheres...He blames the double keys not being precise enough alignment..I'll see him Friday night or find him on Facebook...Thanks....
