Luckily I'm not entirely stuck, the car still moves, but it's not quite right (IT should be, me, well, that's optional). Symptoms are sluggish accel until it hits boost, then all is right with the world. Car is a 1985 Mercedes 300D, turbodiesel, and I've had it at Colorado Diesel in Castle Rock for the last two days. They initially diagnosed a duff connection on the EGR bybass solenoid, after pronouncing the whole system 'good'. That was yesterday. Today I went to Murray Motors (Denver) and got the connectors, but that wasn't quite it. They had one of their 'top' techs out with me, and he couldn't quite get a handle on it. Right then, it would only rev to 1,000 rpm, no load. I pulled free the air cleaner/turbo connection, and instantly it revved free-er. Now I can move, best on boost, but it's still a little sluggish down low. I'm taking it to Mark at Stu Ritter M-B as he is the area's diesel expert, or so I'm told. Our thought is the altitude compensator, but he wants to run through a couple other things, too. Anyone who has a clue on this, wants to help, or wants to say "HI", please call me on 312.310.6993. I'm not against paying for quality****istance, but those guys at CO Diesel really made me want to use the word "moron". Luckily they didn't charge me for bad advise, but they DID bend my radio antenna. Christ, what a story. Thanks for letting me vent/helping/good thoughts - Cosmo P.S. Currnetly in Castle Rock, going to Stu Ritter 'round noon, today, 22 June.
hey man, sorry to hear about the problems, i ain't much help, never touched a turbodiesel, nonetheless a mercedes. i'd come entertain you but the tabs on my truck are expired and i gotta go try to get is smogged! at least you're close to the OUTLET MALL haha.
Hey - Here's the forum I use for my Benz probs, of which there always seems to be plenty. Post and/ or hit up the search function. http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforum/forumdisplay.php3?s=6339544ef1176b85d35cbe5dd0fcbc57&forumid=15 Good Luck JOE
Well, the problems is solved. I found an independent M-B shop, Stu Ritter M-B, and this guys knows his***** forwards and backwards!! It turned out to be a fuel adjustment, quite simple IF you know the secret (he showed me). Now the car runs better than it EVER has, and all for $45.00. Try THAT at your local dealer... Thanks for your support, Cosmo
