i just bought a front and rear suspension off a 39 ford stocker that is being rodded.50 bucks.i took all the front apart but can not get the king pins out .ive tried heat, breakaway. any ideas. i also got the wide five wheels too.
The only thing I know of is heat and lots of it, a little hand help propane bottle wont get it, you'll need a set of torches.....Heat it and beat it, that rust is like weld....
But don't heat & beat them till they flare on the bottom or you'll REALLY have a problem!!! Maybe you know someone with a good hydraulic press???
try heating it , then melt a candle using the spindle boss for the heat source, wick the wax into the boss as though you were soldering copper pipe.
I'm sure you did, but I'll ask anyway; did you remove the kingpin lock bolt? Sometimes little things get missed....
I took one of mine out at work with a 50 ton press, and it was straining, got the other one part way out with it, now it' stuck as can be again, fun for me.
Of course heat , which has already been mentioned. What has always helped me also was a pointy tip on the ol air chisel. The combo of heat/vibration/constant pressure has always served me well. In fact I welded a drift punch to a wore out air chisel bit and NEVER had a problem with stuck door hinge pins either.
