59 Buick's don't have toothed flywheels. The teeth that engage the starter are on the torque converter.

59 buicks also have an enclosed driveline. You will need another driveshaft and another rearend to drop the 401/400 combo in.

Yep, head up **** syndrum on the flywheel. Fraz, I have researched the enclosed drivline pretty good. Talked to several guys on the buick board that have done the change over. I have settled on using a 3rd member from a 61-62 lesabre. It will replace my enclosed drive 3rd member. The axles from my 59 will even work. I have talked to two differant fellas that have done this. I will have to fab. differant trailering arms for it. It's really pretty simple. Also web rodder had a very detailed article on changing out the complete rearend using a 4 link. I think the 401 /t-400 should go in with very little fab. Probably will have to fab. a differant trans cross member. I got a pretty nice old car to start with. Not very much rot on it. A little in the normal places.[rockers and rear fender wells. . Other than that it is complete. TP

If you gotta link to those sites you mentioned, PM me a link will ya? I'm goin to swap mine out soon. Same deal 401/400 and nix the POS leaky dynaslow.

I'd grab the whole rear outta the 61-62 if it's cheap, 59-60's have lug bolts all 4 corners, not the standard stud/nut setup. 61 they went "normal." Course if you've got the axles out already you can put lug studs in.....

Up front, 64-66 big Buick (Electra, Rivi) roller bearing front hubs are a direct swap for the original ball bearing hubs. Will have to do a lil grinding on the washer that goes behind the castle nut to get it to work perfectly. New bearings are 1/4 the cost per bearing than the original ball style, and they last longer.
