  3. Pried with a screwdriver at base of cup (rt hand) to lift and turned ratchet with left - lucky it stripped threads very little and thread chaser cleaned up hole.
Now it's wait around at Napa for a tstat and new radiator cap - seems they just don't keep them in stock any more

I had a stuck plug in a 26 Dodge head. Somebody rounded it off trying to remove it. Torch and a pipe wrench and I was home free with good threads. Heat is your friend.

how did you keep the metal shavings from falling into the cylinder when you chased the threads, just curious incase this ever happens to me.

  6. Put the old style thick wheel bearing grease on the spark plug thread chaser tool, or most any grease for that matter.

  7. I did the grease and then vacuumed the area too.

  8. Me + torch + open carb = bad lol

Take your shop vac and put it on Blow. Roll the motor over till exhaust valve is open. (Air blowing out the spark plug hole) Then do all you work. Chsing threads or even tapping and installing a thread repair. All the chips will blow out at YOU and none will fall into the hole. I used it for many many years when doing spark plug hole repairs. To remove frozen spark plugs take a birthday cake candle and jam it around the offending plug after cleaning away the dirt and rust. Sometimes taking the car for a drive or even a couple of days driving is sufficient or sometimes just heating with a torch wil caue the pariffin to flow nto threads in a manner no loosening oil can. The plug will come out because it will not be frozen anymore. It works so well it is almost unbelievable. I learned this trick late in life from my much younger nephew who is also a Class A certified mechanic. It works by the way on any frozen bolt or nut to and I have not yet seen it fail. If you think your magic oil is better you simply have not tried this yet. Sometimes you can even screw them out with your fingers after heating and melting the wax. And Thread repair will not be needed.
