i bought an old chevy truck axle a while back, and i'm unable to get one of the spindles to rotate freely.i tried using a deadblow hammer , and it didnt seem to even budge. i'm thinking possibly using a gas torch to perhaps help "persuade" the spindle to rotate. i have a friend with a press, maybe i should press out the kingpins? any ideas?
Don't be afraid to put heat on it-set it up so you can keep it hot while exerting force on the end of the spindle. Even after you get it to move, you'll still want to press the king pins out and do a rebush/new pin job. They will come out easier if you can make them move. quote=klemmy;2795072]i bought an old chevy truck axle a while back, and i'm unable to get one of the spindles to rotate freely.i tried using a deadblow hammer , and it didnt seem to even budge. i'm thinking possibly using a gas torch to perhaps help "persuade" the spindle to rotate. i have a friend with a press, maybe i should press out the kingpins? any ideas?[/quote]
