Hey Guys, I need more help. My 289 Stude is running on 4 cyl. It's not running on 2,3,5, and 8. It is firing and it will shock the heck out of you. It is also in the correct firing order. I took the plugs out they were pretty clean and firing. What's up?
That's the center two on one head and the end two on the other. With a 180 degree manifold, those cylinders are fed by one half of the carb. You have a plugged jet, a vacuum leak, or some such issue with one side of the intake system.
Just clean the carb and check for ruptured gaskets. If it runs on four, it will run on eight. Unless you have a stuck valve or something internal like that.
The carb was rebuilt recently with a O'Riley's kit and the accelerator pump has gone out twice already. It's just wants to die I'm sure.
Well I have a Edelbrock now, but how do I make it fit? Because the temp sensor that the automatic choke uses sticks up on the way. Anybody else made a newer Edelbrock fit a Stude 289?
I was able to remove the piece for the choke out of the intake. The carb sits flat now, but I am now going to have to get a carb. spacer to get the linkages up and have room for the butterfly's to open, because the original intake just has four small holes for the original carb.
it's to late...to get pics....and even if she hears me opening up 'er hood....she'll want to know if she's going to the show downtown....when I run the AVS/AFB on a early Stude manifold - I have to run the adaptor to get around the issues with the early manifold...late models don't have that issue...
Hey guys, I put a spacer and the Edelbrock on there tonight. Started turning it over. It turned over for about 15 sec. and fired right up. Didn't even have to pump it! Not running exactly right yet, but I'm very pleased for the tonight. That little 289 sounds like a beast... now that it's running on 8 cyl.
