Firewall is not recessed... it has been smoothed and had a few inches cut out of it. It has the Check A hot rod setup... Mustang II, 350/350, 8 inch ford.

Just in case anybody wants one, a friend of mine has a 57 Studebaker pik up with a blown Chevy in it for sale. It's in black primer and will be in Daytona at Turkey Rod Run car corral Thursday thru Sunday.

  7. I used a wheel barrow. Worked out slick with the SBC. Pay no attention to the big ugly seam across the top. After the chop is done, she gets a 3" section thru the upper firewall.

Thanx a ton for the pics, Tinbender. I've heard of using wheelbarrows & have
seen examples of it done, but never considered it for my '46.
I think I'll do the same thing to mine. :)

There was a company in Ionia, MI that started out as an OE supplier of wagon bodies for the car companies. In the mid-fifties they did woodie conversions for rusted pickup trucks. I always thought that was a much more attractive option than the original flatback cab. There's nothing wrong with the front clip on the Stude trucks, the cab just ends too soon.

Here's a pretty wicked looking one that was PM'd to me. Talk about cutting one up! Can't wait to see it finished. Here's his message-

    Here you go....

Couple of things.. Save your pic as a .jpg file instead of a .png file. Crop your pic to reduce the file size. Resize it to keep it under the size limit. That's the only reason it didn't upload.

Are you coming to Daytona this weekend (today?)
If you Stude types are going to Daytona, C'mon over the the club section near the tunnel turn... We'll have about 50 Stude's there....

So are there "little window and big window" Stude trucks? The big picture of that slick black 50? I saw seemed to have a bigger glass than the rest of the same body style. I know Chevy did it in 55 on their trucks, never thought about other brands though. The white one with Desoto teeth is my fav. Anyone else?

    Yeah,
they did the big and small back windows also. I love that Black one that was posted, also the one with the corvette frontend is pretty unique

here's a coupla shots of my 57 C-cab. it was such a mess when I got it, the only choice was to chop it all up. it got narrowed, chopped, channeled, and the door bottoms were cut off too. It was gonna be at the HAMB drags, but I slacked,.......next year should be cool.
