I've seen this 1960's built Studillac for some time now, and have always been fascinated by both the car and the owner/builder (who I would guess is in his late 80's). In talking with the owner last night, he mentioned this was his last cruise night with the car in our area . He never puts the hood up at the cruise nights, so, in talking to him in depth, asked if I could look at his handy work. He was a bit reluctant, because, as he sadly stated, the engine compartment hasn't been prettied up like other cars at the cruise, plus, he gets around with a cane rather slowly. After a bit of encouragement, I helped him up from his chair, he leaned his cane against the back of the car, and shuffled off to the front, to open the hood. Just seeing the sparkle in his eyes, and hearing his enthusiastic voice when telling of the modifications he made back in 1960, made it all worth while. I asked if he planned on maybe selling the car anytime soon, but no, he and his wife were moving to Arizona in 2 weeks and he was taking his pride and joy along. He said that he's already sold off his other toys, but the Studillac has a special place in his heart. In fact, he apologized for having the inside of the car packed with some spare parts, getting ready for the trip out west. It will be delivered by car carrier in 2 weeks. I believe he said Peoria, Arizona. What a great guy, and I'm impressed that the hot rod blood is still flowing in his veins. I hope he has many more cruise nights left out west. If any of you Arizona guys happen to see the Studillac, be sure and talk to the owner, You'll be inspired. 20150801_191457[1] by Stu D Baker posted Aug 2, 2015 at 12:41 PM 20150801_191446[1] by Stu D Baker posted Aug 2, 2015 at 12:44 PM 20150801_191454[1] by Stu D Baker posted Aug 2, 2015 at 12:43 PM 20150801_191507[1] by Stu D Baker posted Aug 2, 2015 at 12:39 PM 20150801_191515[1] by Stu D Baker posted Aug 2, 2015 at 12:45 PM 20150801_191919[1] by Stu D Baker posted Aug 2, 2015 at 12:49 PM
Great car and greater story. That's for sharing and I hope the owner goes to enjoy it for many years in Arizona.
