  2. This was around 1975 or so. I was wheeling & dealing '65 & '66 Impala parts and this one local guy wants a full nose for his wrecked '66. This guy was a notorious drunk driver and had a string of cars that he had demolished. I sell him the nose, drop it off at his house.

A couple of weeks later, I heard that he fixed the car and promptly totalled it, drunk again. I was no angel myself, but this guy was over the top. I go past his house maybe a month later and there he is, on the lawn on a beautiful summer day, in a wheel chair, paralyzed for life.

I don't know who was stupider, me for selling him the parts knowing how bad he was or for him being so irresponsible. I got over it quickly enough, but the sight of him in the wheel chair is etched in my mind.

The stupidiest is what I didn't do.

    '52 Chev 348 tri-power, 4 spd. $100.00
    '58 Vette 327, 4 spd, ex racer. $500.00
Early 64.5 Mustang convert, 260 4 bbl, 4 spd, generator, fresh top, paint, tires.
    $150.00

It just kills me now with what prices are on these things. There are also others, just not as good a deal as these.
