Sturgis Rally-HAMBnHog Rendezvous #2, Aug 5,6 2005

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tman, Apr 4, 2005.

  1. Several of you made it to my little shindig last year. This is round # 2. (I also still have a couple posters for KC and the Fargo crew:eek: )

What is it? A Reliability Run through the Black Hills of South Dakota. August 5 and 6, the unofficial first weekend of the Motorcycle rally.

Who is invited? HAMBers with traditional Rods,Kustoms and Bikes. We are a little loose on the bike criteria. Car or bike, be prepared for some gravel road, last year we had 2 spots gravel less that 4 miles total.

Headquarters are in Sturgis, a friends place. There is limited room for camping. Please RSVP.

We will get a little loose Friday night in downtown Sturgis. Cruise the Hills on Saturday. Prob have a garage tour or two. There will be a lunch stop someplace for burgers and brews then we will hit my pal Bruce' place for a good BBQ, last year we fed 125+. This was locals, tourists,HAMBers bikers and whores. :D

This a low key event that is about actually driving through my little corner of the world. The party and BBQ is just something that happens when you are in Sturgis!

If you will be in the Hills during the rally or want to make a special trip out here, Feel free to email or PM me with questions.

    Thanks, Trent

A couple pics from last year. Shot from the seat of MilesMs floptop.

Said I would make last year and I didn't!!! Hope like hell I make this year. Got a place to stay in Hill City, so I will not be camping or getting drunk.

Got to get the "T's" together for a pic.

  3. Yes, Hotel Shell is ready from what I understand. We dont rol the roads up at dusk, you and Char can still stick around for some BS in the Eve. :D

  4. Forgot to extend the welcome to Trey,Brickster and the other Wyoming guys. BTTT.

I had a great time last year. I would highly recommend it for anyone that can make the trip. I hope to make it again this year if I can get enough time away from work.

That's an 11 hour drive from here....maybe I could make that.....I'll try to plan for that, looks like a good time.

  8. Love to have you up here Neal! And Miles again!!!

  9. Trent,

We'll be at Louisville that weekend but we're flying from Louisville to Sturgis Monday the 8th for a week of riding then flying back to Louisville to pick up the '34 and drive home to Mass. Maybe we can hook up during the week. The problem is we'll be with about 12 other people at a house in Piedmont - hoping not to have to follow the herd:rolleyes:

  10. Thats cool Dennis, mark Wednesday off that week. Jesse over at Legend Air does a killer chopper show. Last year, Foose was the Judge and there were several of his cars and others there. This year we should get VIP parking for the rods:D. I will stay in touch on the week.

BTW, I will call you about those plaques, we are ready to get going.

  11. Hmmmm, my bike's not real traditional - just an overchromed stock Softail Custom with green (of course) candy flames (can you spell RUB). I'll have to power park in your VIP area:)

I've been needing a reason to come up that way, this sounds like a good idea. I hope you'll bring this back to the top some time in July because I'm kind of forgetfull.

  13. Yes I will Brick, bring some friends!

I heard the pre Rally Rally is getting bigger. I havent been to the Rally in years but I still get meet bunch of cool people from car guy's,gangsters, vets, toadies, you name it. Not to mention the women. I love that constant thunder in Badlands during those days.

how long is the driving part? just wondering if my car would be up for it. know what i mean?

  16. Shortbull, you WILL have fun. I guarantee it.

Trey, last year we had a 30+ mile cruise to our first stop. Then had close to 40+ after the stop. All told, it was less that 100 miles and took most of the day with the stops we had.

This year, we will prob drive 90-125 miles all at speeds under 55 mph. I am working on the route and the garage/food stops as I type this. It doesnt seem like much for mileage but I have been on similar runs that were a blast. Right Rocky?:D

It depends who is coming, I dont want to have a repeat of what we did so that folks get bored.

  18. The Rally OFFICIALLY starts on Monday August 8 this year. But, for al practical purposes it started a week prior. We do this on the opening "unoffical" weekend of the Rally.

AUGUST 5 and 6, everything is going ful tilt anyway. traffic is not to bad the way we go.

Triumph Terror, from what you described sounds alot like Scenic. Was the jail next a to a very old bar with a bunch various animal skulls draped over it. Saw dust on the floor, a sign that reads in english "No Indians Allowed" and in Lakota it reads "Indians Allowed". That cracks me up, damn that place is old. Anyways Interior,Scenic and Wall all 30 miles from each other the first two towns on the same highway.Interior is very similair to Scenic cept it has extra saloon.

Thats it Scenic gotta love that place its like time just stopped there love to talk to the locals there too.Man I love ridin into the badlands cause the farther you ride in everything seems to just disappear. Its almost spiritual.Hell you can almost loose the road its like your somewhere man has never been.Probably aint the same feeling for you if you gotta live around it all the time but let me tell you my friend I think it is a special place. How bout one of my favorite adult entertainment places outside of Rapid city is it still open Outer Limits?
Also use to love to eat at the gaslight lounge on the way to Rushmore but I think it was shut down last time I was out that way.Man I gotta finda way to make it out I am ramblin about stuff you guys are probably tired of seein.

  21. Outer Limits is bulldozed, Lovey got "morals" with her old age and led the repression of the titty bars, we now have topless only.

Gaslight has opened closed several times and is now open again, shitty food. Several new food places in the HIlls that rock, seems the local "discovered" BBQ, 4 new BBQ shacks int he area!

As for spiritual............................this entire end of the state is a walk with spirits. The Black Hills, Badlands, Eastern Wyoming..................you guys can visit but fuck you if you want to move here! :D

Would not be as special to me if I lived there. Its where I went with some close friends every year to get away and forget about where I do live. There is one spirit ridin around out there as my friend was killed on his bike a few years back in frt of the 66 station off the sturgis exit by someone doin a u turn in their cage. How about the back porch tavern goin towards the black hills forest way.I always liked that place.Man I just dont know how I am gonna do all the things I want to do this summer not enough time off. Wont your get together be close to the same time as the Hamb drags?

  29. That was fun Jesse. Lets see how much interest happens in the August deal. Doesnt seem like many out of town HAMBers are going to make it this year?

BTW, there is video shot of the T in the burnout pit. I havent seen it yet.
