Doesn't need much in the way of style. With a relatively modern powertrain and some creature comforts it can be used as a truck on a regular basis.

 

I built this truck for fun and really enjoy it so far. Planning on brush painting the cab extensions, adding rear fenders and running boards. My question is what to do with the wheels?
It was to be a dually but rear brakes did not fit. Then was to have tall skinny wheels made,but seams no one does that anymore. So van wheels 16x6&7's . Thinking painting them Cream or something and maybe 40 ford rings?

 

It does have all the usual upgrades. Sbc,700r4,dana70,disk brakes power steering and heat with ac.
It quite usable just has no direction

 

Being that it is a utilitarian-built truck, I don't see cream-colored wheels nor any trim rings on it.
If anything, paint the wheels a shade darker green, no trim rings.

And you didn't ask .... I don't think it needs rear fenders at all ... just my humble opinion.

This picture is all I've found that in a goofy way portrays the wheel color.

or.... Gloss Black.

 

Make it all one color.
Mud flaps.
Done.

 

Maybe a pickup bed?
And fenders.

 

I’m with some of the other guys,

Rear fenders not needed
Hubcaps and beauty rings not needed
Paint the wheels green, darker better then lighter
Try to match the shade closer on the cab corners
Possibly match the belt line to the darker wheels to tie the colors together

I like the truck now and where you’re headed
Keep up the great work

 

Rear fenders would not look right, rear mud flaps would be better.
Paint the back of the cab and the wheels to match. Might want to paint the wood under the bed either black or the same green.

Part of the appeal of this one is the shortened bed and a bit of rake.

 

I wanted 8' bed for lumber. When I tried outbid after cab extensions I ended up taking 6" out of bed. I did extend frame. Did not like it just sitting on the wood.

Going to paint wheels tomorrow. Thank for the help.
One other idea thinking of raising it up some? Have a dropped axle 2.5" in front and finally got castor good so I would need to machine another stock axle. I would just add another leaf to rear and take some bump out of shocks.

I'd leave the dropped axle.. it adds to "the look".
Despite what others have said I think longer splash aprons and running boards, plus a short section of fender to reach the bottom of the bed (in front) with mud flaps (not too long) behind the tire would complete the "built for a purpose" look. Those items would also give a look that shows how much thought and planning went into it.

 

Maybe you need a trailer to haul your lumber.

 

Rear fenders and running boards are a great idea! They will save the back of your cab From getting beat up by rocks and gravel. Been there and paid the price!

 

In addition to painting the wheels a dark green...all I'd change is the name on the title. That's one cool truck!

 

Paint for wheels Gloss or Semi?

Some sort of hubcap to camouflage those wheels would be on my list. These are 46 one ton, but wide five caps like from 1938 would likely be able to be adapted too.
