Hi guys. Before I get blasted for not using the search function, yes, I did a search and found some great content. However, I am getting organized to start building my 1930 Tudor. My question is, and there will a truck load more as I get going, can I buy sub rails, firewall feet etc, so I can start looking at mounting the body to an A frame. I see you can get them for 1932's etc, just wondering if it's easier to buy or get made for my project. Cheers
Reproduction parts are quick and fairly cost effective. Keep in mind that replacement sheet metal for a 93 year old car is never going to fit 100% perfectly. It's a good start, but there will undoubtedly be tweaking necessary. I have reproduction panels from Brookville and others for my A, and they're good approximations of what will work on my truck.
The rear 2/3 of the body and full subframe of my '31 roadster are all Brookville with the exception of one piece from Howell's (POS). As has been said it will all fit together but is going to take some or a lot of work to make it all fit correctly. I bought the subframe already assembled which helped matters a lot. If you want to see what is involved in this do a search for the Model A bodies that Hamb'r Flop put together a few years ago...
Luckily we can get the appropriate parts for the various Model As. My A coupe needed everything because it was crudely channeled in a previous life. I'd say the sub rails are better in fit and quality than most patch panels or other body pieces available.
Bratton's, www.brattons.com, 800 255-1929, has just about any Model A part you could want. They have the Tudor, sub-rails in both full length and half length.
Dang, just noticed you are in NZ. Here's the ad I was talking about: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/model-a-sub-rails-with-cross-channels.1297185/
Thanks fellas, appreciate the input. Will do some more research with the links provided. I didn't relise that model A panels were repo'd. Thought it was only 32's etc. Cheers
