Subframe disaster----HELP!

    i think everything that could be relevant has already been mentioned but i agree in order of:
    first get all the other stuff on or throw some weight up their to simulate whats missing. you might be suprised by what a coupla hundred pounds will change.
    make sure the spring is seated in the pocket correctly. i have heard the same thing thats mentioned above in it not be in the seat correctly can cause it to sit 1-2" higher.
    those new springs are gonna "settle" and "sag" 1/2'-1" in pretty short order so if you get it to where thats all your off from your goal i'd say your good.

    i don't think it's really as "to narrow" as you think once you get it down to where it needs to be. i actually prefer a clip thats a coupla inches narrower if your really going low. as said above it keeps the tire out of the fender which is a way worse problem in my opinion. and i just like the look of a slight "tuck" up front. going to narrow does look like ****. but i think once you get it down to where it should be your probably going to find your not that far off. narrowing the front to get low is common practice in the aircooled vw world. alot of people there go to crazy and it looks like **** 4-5" is where i do all of mine.

    isn't the "metric" gm control arm wider than the s10 but a direct swap? i think i remember hearing some where of roundy round guys with the metric cars doing the swap to s10 control arms to narrow the track a bit. if thats the case swaping your for metric control arms should get you back close to right. don't know that for sure but seems like i've heard that.

    i also know it's not what you want to hear since the wheels are new but i'd think of it as a perfect excuse to use a reverse wheel with a bit more offset which will look even better anyhow. if they are that new maybe you can talk whoever you got them from into swapping them out. even if it cost you a little money in shipping or whatnot your gonna spend money on spacers to push those out and i'd rather have a deeper offset wheel on there than spacers...ken....

    Bob Dron's black buick looks SO RIGHT with deep reverse chromies, no caps, maybe spiders. Still will be a little narrow, but on a 60's style custom I'd rather see a deep barrel wheel buried in the fender than a super skinny right at the opening, eeeeyuch! Follow the S-10 droppers advice too, I bet you'll have it licked.

    Oh yeah, after you sort out the rear, NO SKIRTS. Well, that's my very opinionated opinion.

    When I put in the new springs,I put a rubber cushion on top and bottom of the spring.They are only 1/4" thick,but the lower one might not let the spring tail fit into the spot like it should.It originally had the cushions only on top.I also noticed the top of the tire is tilted in at least an inch.
    I stood on the front end and had a buddy measure the difference in drop,I'm 225 lbs and it only dropped 1/2".This weekend,I'll take out the other cushion and take another measurement.Right now there is 7 1/2" under the crossmember to the floor.I'll also put some alignment shims in to get the tires closer to vertical.Then I've got some thinking to do.Thanks to everybodyfor all the advice and words of encouragement.I'll keep ya posted on whats happening.

    Put some MANLY tires on it. Do it right and you can have a traditional vibe with a lot more muscle.
