subrails revisted

ok so i got a brand new pair of subrails for my pick up (thanks to the guys who showed me where to get them) theres something im not getting though i seem to have a gap between the door and the rail, should these be snug or what else is there to it? the gap seems pretty substantial which is why im concerned, any body got pics of others? mine is a 28 ford closed cab pickup

 

maybe you need a doorsill to fit between the subframe and door. is your gap 3/4" or 3"?
