I just bought a item off EBAY with paypal and it arrived yesterday, no problem.
I do keep getting a email from Paypal or someone that's wanting me to update my credit card info and lists the last four numbers from an old card. I don't click on the link and have used Paypal since and this message or old card number isn't listed. Think it's a scam.

That is true for some sellers. I have been a seller on eBay for 20 years now. They offered a look at their new processing system to some older vendors as a trial. It is called Ardyn. Over the next few years they are completely phasing out any other type of payment (PayPal) and will use their system to process both credit and debit cards. I opted out after 2 days since everybody is so use to using PayPal, they thought this was a scam. It is not, it is unfortunately the future....

At one stage Ebay owned PayPal and then in 2015 they split it off into a separate company.
    From Wikipedia
Established in 1998 as Confinity, PayPal had its initial public offering in 2002, and became a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay later that year.
In 2014, eBay announced plans to spin off PayPal into an independent company by mid-2015 and this was completed on July 18, 2015.[

I bought & sold hundreds, if not thousands of vintage auto parts, memorobilia, etc. for 20-years to finance my build addiction and only re-call three contentious incidences, one of which was a bad check, aother a father of the buyer thinking the kid (24-years old !) paid too much and the last was one where the package was delivered to the front door and the buyer never looked there because "he never used his front door". In the end, all were completed to my satisfaction with a minimum of h***le.

I've also bought lots of things through ebay over the same period and don't recall ever having a problem. Maybe just lucky, but luck is ALWAYS better than skill !

I only got screwed 2 times and the last one was worst.
I bought some stuff intended as a christmasgift to a friend that never come.
The seller moparpro give me a trackingnumber but it never get somewhere.

for us old car folks ebay is a shadow of its former self pre-2008. I had several junk 49- 50 chevrolets over the years and it seemed that when they left a bunch of parts stayed behind. I started selling the parts to clean up my shop of useless junk and made like $4500.00 and really couldn't even tell you what I had sold. I was hooked!
I parted 4 old Chevy's on there and made out like a bandit, at the same time I was buying 49- 54 parts at swap meets and reselling on ebay. at this time there was a good 4 or 5 sellers parting out these same cars, doing exactly what I was doing.

now when you search 1949 Chevrolet you get 5,000 listings for seat covers and universal parts, change it to "1949 chevrolet" and you get 900 listings mostly paper items and ***orted nonsense. when they changed the default listing order to "best match" which means "sellers we like more than you" my sales plummeted and I had to get a job. I had items that never got to the first page in the best match mess.

my current ebay ID has 486 feedback as a buyer. I can only think of two bad purchases. one was just terrible packaging and the other was a misdescribed item. been buying lots of vintage bicycle parts lately with good results and 3/4 of my Wyandotte toy collection comes from there.

I've made 515 purchases on ebay and they have almost all turned out fine. One item, a hand held strobe tach from china didn't show up and didn't show up. Finally a paper wrapper with my address made it. Too late to contest the sale. Seller had wrapped the package with very thin cheap paper that tore and left the contents behind. Wasn't Ebay's fault and was only a 35 dollar purchase anyway, so not a big heartbreak.
I'm a big fan of ebay, seems you can find anything you can think of on there. Maybe not today, but save a search and it will show up eventually. Don't understand why so many guys on here seem to have hard feelings toward them. Maybe they just have hard feelings toward the world in general. Any time I've had a problem they have backed me.

I'm a big ebay fan... Bought tons, most likely supporting all you guys! lol Had only 2 or 3 items that didn't live up to the description. My best purchase was a 1962 Nova Convertible from California. I was the 3rd owner, sold it when times seemed bad... Kick myself forever for selling it.. We flew out West and drove it home to Michigan! Bought it for $5500. sold it for $10,000. The next year they were closer to 15 - 20 grand...

If you want to be sure log on to PayPal find the contact phone number and ask them. I'm very happy with eBay & PayPal and all the sales and purchases I've had. Bob

From my perspective it's certainly helped me enormously with my 46 Olds over the years. How could I otherwise locate or source all those hard to get and NOS items when I live thousands of miles away from anywhere. I've been fortunate and only had a couple of minor issues that were resolved to my satisfaction. Add a US shipping address and the rest is history.

Easy to tell if an email came from PayPal, don't open any links, just hit the reply ****on and see whose address comes up in the send to box. If it's not PayPal the address won't be to them. Might be something close, but if it doesn't say PayPal, it's not from them.

I have used eBay and PayPal with no issues for years.

I have sold and bought a lot of great stuff and I too have used it to feed my car habit.

My Best Buy was a listing about 15 years ago for a ford ch***is. Seller didn’t know what year it was or anything about it. I asked some questions and bought it after a min of feverish bidding. Turned out to be a 1940 ford ch***is and drivetrain and the motor ran, the 1949 mercury motor. :) $515.00 for the whole deal.

1939 to 1948 flathead 3 speed main shaft, NOS Warner Gear part, seller had no idea, $14.00 and he sold me an NOS cluster gear 28 tooth for $16.00 so he didn’t have to pay the listing and final sale fees.
