not to challenge anyone or anything, But has anyone ever sat back and wondered if all the shit going on today on 'modern' rods will be considered traditional, such as bagged mini trucks, realistic fire, massive wheels etc?

well damn, my car is suede green....so is that cool or not? its flat now because its easier to touch up as i do the body work. plan on mine is to have bags....i dont care about laying frame i just want to be able to set ride height and have a posh ride. and my side glass is broken but still in the window.... guess i am a rat or trend follower.

too bad. i thought i was a hot rodder.

blah, blah, blah. yeah, and at one time flatties, wide whites, chopping tops & removing fenders, etc.. were trends. are they not cool still? and in 50 years, will my new edelbrock air-gap be vintage ? who cares. build it, drive it, it's your ugly ass that's seen behind the steering wheel.

  11. I love this thread and I can see by the responses it hurt a lot of feelings out there. There are plenty of smart asses making comments.

  12. i just saw the debut issue of the remake of the trend books. I guess it really is focusing on "TODAYS TRENDS" not old trends. On the cover there is a Kustom with no hood and FILTHY whitewalls,so judging on that alone its clear that the new trend book is covering the latest trends and not trends from the fortys or 50s,I dont remember seeing any cover cars on the old trend books with dirty whitewalls and no hood. I dont think Sam,Gil or Neil would of let there cars roll out to a show or a photoshoot until the car was finished. Its all right for a hot rod or a race car but for a kustom??????? It really cracks me up that todays "scene" label that traditional. Remember this ....... just beacause your car is not covered in billet does not make it traditional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I just re-examined my list.

What I said was a car with plastic windows, spider webs, airbags, widow's peaks headlights, a shifter with a skull on the end that grazes the roof, hot rod flatz paint done with a brush, your repop olds air cleaner and a fake speedshop logo on the side is played.

Basically I just described a crap-rod. That stuff is crap.

What I think is interesting is that anybody would be offended by that, but I'm glad you are.

If you're on the HAMB, then you need to know that. You'd think it wouldn't have to be said, but evidentally it does.

Here's another newsflash, mexican blankets as seatcovers are played.

And here's a list of cool things, but hardly new trends, since it was asked.

Vent windows on a chop top car.
Real glass in a chop top car.
    Paint that's shiny.
    A nice interior.
    A car that's driveable.
A car people admire the workmanship on.

Does my car have these all these qualities? Nope, but I'm striving for them.

I see a lot of people that are quick to shoot the messenger.

EDIT: Who am I to say? I'm a N O B O D Y that's not cool and has meager car crafting skills and experience, and arguably bad taste.

So why ya gettin' all bent out of shape if I'm so wrong?
