Great job on the Suede Palace. I think my girlfriend summed it best by saying "I like this area the best because it has real cars"

Here is what I saw through my lens at the show. Donnie, your Olds looks so kool just parked. Would love to see that in the sun outside. RF, what can I say? You da man. I will always be drool'in on yer '53 when I see it.....hope I didn't ruin the paint from drool'in sooo much. Congrats on the awards you recieved. Cole, how are you going to out-do yourself from doing the '36? Knowing you, you will find a way. Your cars just keep getting better and better. I was going to offer to lend a hand in getting all the dust off, seemed you had it covered! All in all, wish I could have taken more pics but, I was maxed out. I have video and will try and put it on youtube when I find out how. It was great meeting all the local HAMB'rs and the ones that came in from out of state. I know you all enjoyed what Axle and the rest made happen for us. KNUX! "VIVA LA HAMB"

Yes Axle Thanks! I wanted to chat with you a bit but you were always mobbed with other people. Maybe next time. Loved the display and the bands shook the place. Very fun atmosphere and Yes it felt like home in there. Way to go.

  8. Axle;
To echo what everyone else said, Thank You.
This was my first time at The GNRS, and I was so torn between hangin out at the Suede Palace and running around like a madman trying to absorb the rest of the place.
Thanks again to you and your crew.

I know there was alot of big names there. Does anyone know if Trepanier or Strange was at the show? Would liked to have met both if so. Anyone check out Pratt's shoebox? I got a pic of it but turned out all blurry. If anyone got a pic of his car, please post. Love the paint combo on it. KNUX!

Just wanted to be a "Me Too" when it comes to thanking you for the outstanding job you did with the Palace, Axle. Really loved the Shifters Garage.

Now I gotta figure out building a car nice enough to get inside,

Hey Axle, I don't know how much influence you'll have next year, but PLEASE try to keep the absolute SHIT like that abortion (with the big rig parts) that was out in front of the Suede Palace as far away from "our style" stuff as possible. I think it was an absolute insult to all of the traditional rods and kustoms that were in the building.

People were flocking around it, and from the couple of conversations I overheard, and overhear often in similar situations, it gets lumped in with the good stuff.

If they want a rat rod building, then they should have one.

Oh wait, that blue Chevy right inside the door was a little on the gay side. :)

Actually, that car is way too nice for you RF, I may need to take it off of your hands. The interior came out great.

Give it your best shot in Del Mar. If you succeed, well, you suck seed. If you fail, I get to smash your nuts in the trunk latch.

  23. Last year i stuck my head in the "Palace" out of morbid curiousity. This year, it was fun, and you could actually "feel" the atmosphere soon as you stepped in. I missed the 75th Deuce anniversary building (idiot), but did the "Palace" 3 times Saturday. Axle, i think we spoke/met briefly at Viva a couple years ago. I'm pretty sure it was you that commented on my San Fernando Drag Strip jacket, and we talked for a minute? Anyway, i'd like to have some Pontiac powered wierdness in there next year. Did you read my thread on the 421's "leg stretching" on the way to the GNRS? Try this, i think you'll enjoy it

Thanks to Axle for the great work ! The overall display was great and everyone who knows what's up knew what was up with the silly stuff.

Overall a killer deal and I really appreciated you taking the time for our video interview Alex. You didn't have to do that, but you did, and I thank ya for it.

It's always cool to see RF's ride...knowing he drives it to work regularly adds an extra splash of special sauce. The car and the guy are the real deal.

We had a great time and we'll surely be back...maybe with a big 'ol Buick someday. We had high hopes it'd be cool at the Palace, and those hopes were exceeded.

Axle, A long distance congrats on the Seude Palace. Didn't make it out there as much as I wanted to but if the show was anything like the internet version you blew it out of the water. I've been on here for a couple of hours clicking back and forth and if there was anything to complain about keep it to yourself, it didn't show up on my screen.. You done good!!

  29. I spent all three days in the Palace. Had a great time, just hanging out and talking to HAMBers and the guys with cars in there. Met Alex Gambino. What a cool guy. Met sooo many HAMB guys,I can't even remember all their names. RF,loved your car. That '32 roadster with the 1939 timing tag on the dash was the shit! Nice guy too. Finally I felt at home at a show, besides Primer Nats. I'm tired of getting asked what color i'm gonna paint my Merc,at other shows. Felt like I fit in for a change. Atmosphere, music, people watching,it was great. George Barris came in and walked around with a chick and a cameraman. My friend asked him to sign some of his posters, then told him to look at my Merc. When I heard that,I followed him over to my car,to ease drop. He ran his fingers along the drip rail, looked at the back window area and said "nice lines". I was pretty jazzed. I called my buddy, who chopped it and told him.
Can't wait for next year. I'm gonna park outside though,so I don't get locked in again. Chili was pretty funny, when the doors got locked!
Thanks again Axle. You did a fantastic job.

    Axle-
It was good to meet you. I'm still scratchin my shiny head about all the drama, but hey, in the long run, cool heads prevailed and the award ceremony went off Saturday nite without a hitch. Thanks from the Road Devils for what you do to make this happen, and a personal thanks for listening to that sweet nothing I whispered in your ear, and announcing the maker of that Best in Show trophy. It was the stand-up thing to do, and certainly averted a potentially bad scene.
