Heah guys Ithe chevy is going to the body shop for cancer repair. I'm painting it a tinted primer with hardener. So I need some pics of suede cars. No black please. I'm thinking green. There is a 50's Lincoln matbe that has small scoops on the hood. I thinking something like that. I'm not stuck on green post any suede car ya think is cool.

    Thanks

  5. Only two of those cars are actually in primer. Rest are flattened paint.

that last one is something I'm kicking around for my caddy. This might well be a very helpful thread for me.

i'm thinking some kind of copper or rootbeer with a flaked roof and copper wheels. unless I can find some caddy caps and do it proper.

    please keep them coming.

Flattened paint is the way to go, it will hold up better.

The primer he is using has a hardener in it. It will be shiny next year, so this is temporary. I don't want the final paint job until I'm sure about the body mods and the ch***is has bags and stuff installed. I traded a car for the rust fix and body work so I wanna get it wrapped up and made it a done deal.

Has anyone heard of a primer with hardener? He is also por 15 the body and using their primer over it and thenthis other primer for final color and sealer.

Does hardener make it UV resistant? Will it make it waterproof? I don't think it will but what do I know? Here's my 39 with tinted primer.

I'm gonna say this and prolly get slapped for it, but lucky for me I love the punishment!

I use industrial primer, oil based. It repels water, doesn't fade and withstands LOADS more then Automotive primer. I spray my cars with it, my shop truck AND the industrial equipment and vehicles that come thru the shop. It's extremely cheap as well. About $28 a gallon. It comes in white and can be tinted any color you like.

supposably it seals as good and base coat/ clear, butcan be painted over with minimal prep like primer. I sounds like win, win to me. I'm gonna prolly chop it in the next year or so so shiny paint will come after that.

Green you say? Here's a green etching primer that comes in a spray can. Easy can do. Works good; lasts a long time. :)

Dave, what year Lincoln, it is not ringing any bells with me.

Did you say he is going to use POR 15 on the outside?? ir just he inside. I would not use it outside.. have him do the body work, and use either one of the colord DP primers or have him take some paint and add flex n flattener to it to give a satin finish.

Thou, I think he needs to paint the roof nice (some heavy flake) so you can install the gl*** and not pull them out later and only put the body in primer. I have seen lots of on the West Coast done that way and it looks *****in...

This was last year. A buddy is finishing up some body work on it and shooting it blue suede with a white top. Should get it back next week. Can't wait.

anyone got more??? im leaning towards satin black, or dark satin grey, with HEAVY scalloping... scallop color??? BUT, i was also thinking satin black and grey on the whole thing, scalloped in grey, maybe grey roof, scalloped in black, all scallops will be pinstripped by my friend either way... ideas??

I can't find any pics of it either. i saw it in a magzine ad a while back.

About the por-15. The body has surface rust and some pitting. he is going to put rust preventer to fill the pits, then their self etching primer since it is compatible.
    http://www.por15.com/product.asp?productid=498
and then his other primer with hardening agan to seal. I will have him mix and tint extra for touch up if I decide to change anything or nick it up while finishing the ch***is. Shiny paint is next year after all kinks with the ch***is swap are worked out and I'm happy with body mods.

oh yeah no shiny paint on the roof since I am planning on chopping it, or in the case of me screwing the chop up, it will have a carson top.

HA! If it was life or death as for me posting pics.....I'd die. I can email them if you like.

Dvanecek----That was my Pontiac and no I didn't prime her in a red, she'll be primed in a white oil base primer and sprayed in HoK Candy Apple Red....right after the hag gets running again! BUT yes you can paint it with a tinted primer. They just take a white primer and add pigment to it. It's easy enough to do and doesn't usually cost anymore $ then the white primer.

Rot----I sent you a pm...but I'll post it here anyways. I don't remember the brand name right off hand, but tomorrow when I get to the shop, I'll post the name. I bought it at a Pioneer paint, but once you get the brand name I'm sure you can find someone in your area. I'd try the phonebook under paint and then look for industrial stuff. It sure covers easier and is MAD easy to maintain. But that's cuz I'm a lazy biotch!:D
