This past weekend was the Jalopy Showdown Invitational and I headed up with my good friend Dustin to enjoy the festivities as well as spread the word on Sugar City Speed Shop and sell some merch.

We headed up on Friday morning at 6am so that we could get to the show and reserve a spot to set up shop as well as make sure we had enough time to head to The Flyers open house at Zach Suhr's shop.

If you've never been there you are missing probably the coolest shop on the east coast. It's always a kick in the *** to make the trip if I know I'll be attending the Flyer's BBQ. His place is purely magical and always is a sight to see. Thanks to Zach and the Flyers for having us. It really sets the pace for Saturday!

The next morning we woke up at 6:45am after some late night fun with Andy (Thunderbiresq) and headed out for some coffee before arriving at the show. We were really stoked to see quality cars pour in one after another. Everything that was showing up was really cool and even though I was stuck behind the booth, I was enjoying the hell out of myself.

I have to sincerely thank every one that stopped by the booth and supported us. It means the world to me and I had a great time talking to you all. A little at a time this whole Sugar City thing is taking shape and it wouldn't be without the support of you all.

I forget what time it was when it started raining but I know that I didn't even get a chance to walk around yet before it did. I feared that cars would start packing up before getting a chance to check them out but no one did. Everybody stayed put and weathered the storm as rain and hail pounded cars from above!!!! Such a cool display of what real hot rodders are about.

Once the storm cleared I was able to go take some pics of the cars with my phone. I forgot to bring my grownup camera but I think these'll do. I even took some ****py video. Everyone had a huge smile on their face despite the weather and it only made for even better track time with the cars! I had not went around the track in May when we came up but this time Andy took me for a ride in his '34 5w and even though it may not look like they are going fast, I can tell you that those fellers sure have to drive their *** of to keep it pointing the right way as seen in this video. I stuck my phone out at the very end and it just got caked with mud haha!!!

Here's Clark blasting around the track while it's pouring. He really lifted the spirits and showed us that this was still gonna be a fun day!!

And finally Zach Suhr has to win the best laps of the day with his awesome "crossed up" drift around the track. This feller really knows how to keep his foot in a hot rod roadster!!!

Can you believe that was a 4dr?!!! My favorite part is the rear door handle that's still there.....well favorite behind the chop, the stance, the sound, the at***ude and everything else!! Such a menacing car!

I'm about as much a hoodlum as I am an olympian! :D:D:D Great seeing you and your lady friend. You guys are good people!

Must attend. I am putting it on my list of things I have to do each year. The drive up from North Carolina is a piece of cake and I can't wait to make it in an old car!

Oh I should mention that I didn't get pics of Travis Tuki's '29 roadster and his friend's right next to him because I got caught up in the details talking to him about the history and how he put it together but those two '29's were easily some of my favorites of the show. They were just right up my alley and owned by two guys that are as nice as can be. I look forward to seeing them again.
