So my wife and I decided to take a look at some fireworks last night and we jumped into the 'ol truck. It ran fine on the way, no concerns. Show came and went, time to go. Now the truck runs like shit. I gave it a once over and nothing seemed to screwed with. However there were tons of kids around and remembering back to when I was that age I started to worry. Could some little shit have dumped a little sugar in the tank, maybe. Not having had this happen before I want to know if anyone out there has and what the symptoms are. Watch out for those little bastards!

Actual granulated sugar will not go through the fuel filter. It will plug it up, though. Worse than sugar are several beverages, and even urine! Caught a joker pissing in my tank one time. After due persuasion, he siphoned my tank dry and bought me a tank of fresh gas. I wasn't about to suck on that siphoning hose!(I was careful not to damage his lips when "persuading"him.)

Odds are overwhelming that you have a mechanical problem and not sugar.

And what the hell were you doing by putting sugar in peoples gas tanks?

If that is how you enjoyed your childhood, pay backs are a bitch.

67 c10 with a worked 427. Problem was (and is) its got a horrible studder/gurgle when I step on it, a real loss of power. It happened right off the bat as soon as we tried to leave. Now I'm not saying that there was definitely fowl play, it could be something else, I just was wondering what the symptoms were if someone were to screw with the fuel.

Late evening after dark. Humidity goes sky high. If you have an older dizzy in it or old plug wires prepare for problems like that by keeping em in good shape. What makes you think it's fuel related? If you have an old 1 wire HEI I'd suspect the pickup coil in the bottom of the diz. They're notorious for going "all of a sudden" and can be a pain in the ass to detect if you're not hip to it. Usuall 1 wire breaks and makes momentary connctions, then soon it quits running all together.

Can you open your hood from the outside (Assuming it has a hood). A kid I went to high school with used to take great pleasure in reversing the #1 and #8 spark plug wires on fellow shop students Chevies. Idles fine, but put in in gear and if it doesn't stall out, it definitely runs like shit. He never got to me ... maybe it's because I threatened his life when he let me in on his little game.

On second thought, it might have been the number one and number seven cylinders ... I can't remember, all I know is it was a dirty ass trick to play.

Did you get gas last night? I've been having all kinds of problems with crappy gas.. Bought some a while back that was about 1/4 water. Pumping it in your tank, it is broken down throughout the gas and will run, but after it sets a while it settles to the bottom, then you crank it and get a big dose of water.

a lady takes her car in for repair, it's running poorly. after about an hour and a half, the mechanic comes back and says "alright, all fixed" the lady asks, "well, what happened?"
the mechanic replies, "just crap in the carburator."
the lady stares at him, perplexed and says, "ok, well..how often do i have to do that?"

I have heard of the sugar in gas, so I tried it, 2 table spoons of sugar in a 1/2 pint of gas. sugar is still in the jar, gas long gone. it gums ,or balls up after a few days.I would think something else.

If points ignition, broken weight spring? Could also be the other problems as Highlander mentioned.

  22. I'm not SAYING....but I'm just saying that more than one gas station has been caught recently filling their tanks with water from a nearby hydrant (most gas stations have a hydrant on-site for obvious reasons) to stretch their inventory....Hmmm.

One time I couldn't find my remote, and I mean I looked everywhere. So I knew that someone broke into my house and stole it. I was so pissed.

Later on I found the remote under my couch. Damn kids must have broken back into the house and stuck it under there to keep the heat off.

At our fireworks we had a stabbing, multiple gang fights, and one attempted abduction.

Bad gas. Every 8000 gal load of the 10% ethanol blend is allowed to have 50 gal of water in it when delivered in NJ. Water costs like what? nothing? and the ethanol mix will absorb a LOT more water before it drops out. The more water they can add, the more 4.00 a gal "fuel" they can sell you. This problem is gonna get a lot worse in the coming months cause the fuel companies are really squeezing the stations. The sales are droping and the 6 cents to the stations are not covering expenses. So streching the load by a few hundred gallons is gonna get common.

If your gas tank filler neck area, around the door, has been getting a black mold around it, you are getting stale, water added gas.
