Yeah I've always thought a Crown Royal bag would be a really cool shifter boot... never actually seen it done though.

I have always wanted to find an expensive purse like gucci or something and cut it up and make a shifter boot out of it.

I fabbed up my own auto. shifter & made it a pretty short throw. Had something laying around similar to whats in the link here except mine was rubber with a rectangular shape & accordian pleated. Very small & incon****uous. I used a very short lever with it too. Sorry, it's long gone & no pics.

I like the regular old rubber boot but, I saw a leather welding/work glove used in a fist shape with the shifter comming up through the extended middle finger. Like the shifter was flippin' the bird...

back before Hurst came out with their rectangular handles, we always used the C1 Vette plate with boot/pattern/ashtray....worked great for round handles, and if it was too low, ya just built a small box, welded or riveted it in place. Nowadays my buddy's wife has a commercial grade sewing machine, so if you can draw - she can sew.

  19. Anything but a leather/rubber/vinyl boot is just a cheesy gimmick.

old style. If the stick comes thru the carped. lay a piece of leather or vinyl face down on the carpet, sew around the hole, cut out a hole in the leather leaving 1 inch of material, streatch it in and under, sew another circle you have a ring with no seam, then make a funnel to slip over the stick, sew or tack to the under side of the carpet. RUbber accordian is 60's kit style.

  27. Get someone going out to the Far East to buy you a fake - $15 for an excellent leather one. Hermes or Louis Vitton would be particularly appropriate given their long ***ociation with bespoke luggage for automobiles.

BTW, nothing wrong with the odd cheesy gimmick - just don't over do it.

a car can be judged by the quality of the design, the build and craftsmanship, attention to detail, overall styling, stance and perfect profile.

or, if you don't have any of that, you can always resort to gimmicks to get attention.

It all depends on the type of attention you seek
