for those of you who dont know or dont care,i blew the 350 in my chevy awhile back.one of the guys in my club offered to gimme his 305 out of his camaro (puked his trans, plus he found a 350) for free (sans intake and carb) and i said 'if the engine's free, that's the engine for me!' and since then i've been thinkin and thinkin of what to do with this engine once i get it.i know i want finned valve covers on it,and i'd LOVE a multi carb setup with louvered aircleaners.the questions i have are: should i go with a dual quad setup or two 2 barrels? (reason i'm not really considering triple carb is mainly driveability and cost) i've got the rochester off the 350 i had and i could use it again, but should i? this is not my daily car (or at least not until summer) but it's not a piece of furniture to sit and rot.i drive this car as often as i can and as weather allows (it gets crappy here in ohio)and every so often i make a big trip (last summer i drove her to indy and next year i plan on drivin to cali)so,all in all, what are your guys' suggestions? thanks!

well if it's going in a hotrod you have to go for the two two barrels dontcha, instead of finned covers try to get some real early covers in steel will chevrolet on them or better still pre ali corvette covers and some rams horn headers to give the ive just been ripped out of a 55 chevy look.Less chrome and more paint the better and as for the ali dont polish it vapour blast it and you get a real nice silky look thats easy to keep clean.Use a dynamo and not an alternator and a nice mechanical fan and oh yeah you got a real hotrod engine thats cost next to bugger all.........Mad Marq

ok,i'm gettin this engine for free,so the 305 is definately goin in.as for considering my car a hotrod, that's what i thought when i 1st got it,but i definately prefer to go kustom/leadsled with this one.but dont get me wrong,it'll have some pep to it.i'm definately gonna put on some headers (ones my buddy's got sittin around that he's gonna give me for free) and i'm gonna fab up some lakes pipes that go into the exhaust system i have when they're capped off.and as for electric fan,NO.that'd be more money in somethin i dont wanna waste time with.the engine has a fan,it works,it's goin in the car.and it's DEFINATELY getting finned covers!thanks

  4. I like the finned cover idea but I just like fins (60s kid).
Given a choice if I had to have more than one carb I'd go with 2 fours (very small for the 305). If you go with vac secondaries and tune 'em right it should be very streetable.

Don't know if you got a line on an intake yet but Edelbrock still makes they're early model 2 four manifold (the one with the filler neck). It was designed to work with the smaller displacement motors (283-327).

    That's my thoughts on it.
