The title pretty much says it all, don’t have an old dizzy to cut down unfortunately Thanks in advance guys !
Thanks Don, I’ve seen posts where guys have used a cheap ones and it didn’t lube both sides of the engine. Want to avoid that !
Thanks @ wheeltramp, I guess as long as it has those collars they work properly. Big difference in price between Speedway brand and ARP brand, any different between them if they have the collars ?
Tool with collar , amazon $11.99 , jegs $15 , eBay $21 , summit , basically &12-$50 depending on where you shop , or , what's a scrap yard get for an old distributor ?
There are numerous ones on Ebay with the correct bushing to ensure you oil the top end too, and not just the crank bearings. I bought one there a couple decades ago for $12, and they're still under $20. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=SBC+oil+pump+primer&_sacat=0&_sop=15
Thanks I’m thinking of getting the Proform 66896 about $22 First I’ll try to find an old dizzy at a junk yard
Any piece of steel that's over a foot long, and will fit in your drill chuck, that you can grind the end to a flat shape, will work. It won't be perfect, but it'll get oil to the bearings.
one of the lifter gallerys won't get oil, but the bearings will. I used an old long screwdriver blade for years for priming engines before I made one from an old distributor. If you're really worried about it, get a distributor and cut it up.
If you have a junk distributor, you can take the drive gear off of it and weld a stud to the rotor end. Chuck it up in a drill and go.
