hey there, just about reached my limit on the current engine in my supersnipe looking to create a nice little sleeper and if i could keep the drivetrain and trans it'd save me a heck of a lot of effort and time and monies..
would love to hear some of your suggestions.

    cheers..

  2. Whytetrash,
    I got a 37 Hillman minx with a V8 rover 3.5 ltr. (Buick 215ci) on a BW35 box. It's a common mating here. Good luck!!
I'll edit later with pics (photobucket under maintenance)
    Charlie!!

Not a huge amount of strength in those BW35 boxes, I used to rip the guts out of them on a regular basis with a 2.5PI Triumph 6 cylinder engine. I know they went in Hillmans, English Fords, Triumphs, and maybe Rovers. They may have also been in Volvos, as I remember reading about a Triumph racing car with an overdrive BW trans, either 35 or 65. The o/d unit is in front of the Volvo gearbox guts apparently, but it had been installed in a Triumph sedan. My 2500S sedan had a BW65 box, which may be a bit stronger.

One of the big downfalls of these boxes is the lack of an overdrive, maybe a Jap import motor and box combo? a 2 litre Toyota or Nissan complete with its o/d box?

    (Not traditional I know!)

I had a 1725 Superminx engine in my Husky, with a Hunter GT manual box behind it. Went well, 13cwt all up certainly helped.

    Cheers, Glen.
