Used to haul pipe and heavy equipment in the 60s, many times climbing long hills I would ride the shoulder to allow cars to p***. In the summer I would pull out the trottle and stand on the saddle tank, as it would get real hot in the cab on long hills. Ofcourse it was in low gear and pretty slow.
Model A Fords came from the factory with a throttle lever on the steering column. They work well for warm ups and probably were used for pulling hay wagons, etc. back in the day....
the newer throttle cables have a red center knob if you push it in it releases the lock i use mine all the time with no problems
Actualy, it is used for warming the engine without using the choke to avoid over rich condition resulting in washing the cylinders.
