hoping some one who is a bit more up on hot rod history can assist me with this.
On Grabowski's T he had reversed the spring hangers to put the spring behind the axle, Was he the first to do this or had this been previously done on sprint cars or other hotrods
I have looked through old pre 55 hot rod magazines and Ray Kuns book and other books trying to find out but to no avail.
The reason I ask is I remember Norm being quoted in one of the magazine articles something to the effect of that he didn't know one end of a car from the other when he started on the lightning bug

I would think that Norm Grabowski probably started this and its feature in Hot Rod magazine in 1955 which brought the concept of the '37 tubular axle behind the spring into the spotlight. Tommy Ivo copied it and more magazine coverage. Since then, there has been Joe Pirronello's Dodge bucket, Harry Markiecki's Trojan, and George Gould's T that come to mind. I would have loved to do one too but never found a '37 axle.
