I am thinking about building a rod, dont know how to stereotype this one, I got a 32 ford delevery truck body, no fenders, boards, or anything else, I have a beauty of a 32 chev frame, and a 40 ford front axle complete and clean down to the wheels, I got some skinny ww tires for the front and some old slicks black wall for the back. NOW here is the question how would I go about cutting the front of the frame and putting this 40 up front, I quess I need to split the bones, I wanna make a chopped highboy. Got any advise. Or do I want a model a crossmemeber and dropped A axle, and sell off the 40 stuff. Thanks James..
the only problem with the '40 axle is that the spring is in front of the axle,,so when you split the bones you either have to modify the spring mounts or move the spring to the top of axle with new perches(or even behind the axle between the wishbones if you want it really low)
Yep, right, I didnt think about it when I was eyeballing the pile of parts. I will probable just use a cheep dropped axle with hairpins, the novice way out. Any one in the area need a 40 front and rear ends conmplete. If so dont waste space here, PM.

[/ QUOTE ] why? you got cool genuine Ford stuff, it's not that much harder to split bones and move the spring on top of the axle (buy perches) then to install hairpins.
If you have a 1932 Ford Panel delivery body it is worth big bucks. I wouldn't build a fenderless Hot Rod out of it. It will look goofy. Those bodys are too long to be fenderless. Sell it and buy a coupe or sedan. My dad has a 33 panel delivery and we get so many calls on it, it's rediculous. They actually get angry when the find out it's not for sale. If it is a 1932 SEDAN delivery it's worth even more. Sell it and build 2 Hot rods.
It realy isnt as long as you would think, maybe bacause it was a half ton? the body only extends a few inches past the rear fenders. Its kinda tall I think it would look cool missing a few inches out of the lid. the only diff that I can find is that the firewalls change from year to year, and a little fact I found out, the delivery bodies, have a narrow rear fender, if you put a truck fender back on it it makes room for some nice fatties tucked up. The rig is not as nice as you would think, its not killed but it needs a bunch of work.
