Can someone explain to me what the summer and winter connections on the stromberg 97 throttle shaft are and what they actually do to the set-up of the carb?
Those balls move the rod that actuates the rocker for the accelerator pump so it shoots more gas when air is cold and vaporization is poor. It would also slightly change tip in point of the power enrichment valve, activating it a bit sooner in winter. Ford carbs have THREE positions here! On Strombergs, 97 and 81 carbs came with the two position adjustment, 40 and 48 models had only one position. Many carbs now have the other steup from decades of random parts swapping or fine tuning.
