so i was just about to order and steeringwheel adapter for like 19 dollars from summit racing
    (studebaker to grant steering wheel)

was making an account, and then i read this

"$23.95 handling charge added to each overseas order, except APO/FPO addresses"

what an joke 24 dollars to just Handle a package before shipping and to that comes the shipping,
just because of that i will never order anything from them,

like it would take 24 dollars worth of work just to handle a package to send to sweden, i am aware that postage of course is higher then continental usa, but 24 dollars for just handeling an package hah!

Handling fees have gotten ridiculous almost everywhere. I think alot of companies see it as a way to add another level of profit to their operation.

Especially a company like Summit. Not alot of auto performance parts houses have the infrastructure, label, name recognition or inventory to really hit the overseas market for American car parts. So I guess they figure they've kinda got you by the balls.

I understand if you're now boycotting Summit on principle, but if you end up deciding you want to buy the part, I'm sure you could find someone in the states who could order the part for you and then ship them to you without the outrageous handline fee.

Might evenm be able to avoid some government taxes taht way for importation???

If you don't know anyone else, I could probably "handle" it for you.

    Daemon,
I work approximately 35 minutes from this place.
Although I don't want to go into business doing this all the time, I will do this for you for some important stuff you can't find anywhere else. If there's something I can get for you and ship it out to you at just the regular shipping costs without handling let me know. P.m. me...
Summit usually is really good to work with and have quite a supply of hotrod parts. Have you tried Jegs in Columbus, Ohio yet?? They too, may be more reasonable with the shipping costs. Jegs Now just don't ask me to ship a whole car to you though. [IMG] [IMG] PJ.

Hi, thanx thats really cool of you, but the part i was going to buy is quite easy to find, i can buy it over shelf here for like 40 us bux, just figured that i could aswell buy it from the states and with shipping it would be atleast not a higherprice then to order from the states, and it would save me the trouble of 1 hour extra car trip and as the company closes at 5 and i work to 4.30 and i didnt really need the item like direct anyhow
would probally take me 2 hours from work, there and home due to traffic aswell sigh. that place is on the other side of town

i could aswell just go there and buy it...
most of the times its alot cheaper for me to buy stuff from the states even with shipping then to buy it in a store here, ill check jegs instead, i actually think i would get it faster if i order it from the states then if i find time to go there and buy it and probally save around 20 bux then buy it here with shipping [IMG]

ohhh noo, if i would buy i car from you it wouldnt be shipped here [IMG] it would be good enough to have it shipped to an shipping company [IMG]

Try Jegs, Yes it would be an extra hour of driving for me too. But the offer is still here. If for some reason, the cost is too high there or not available, give me a yell.
After all, that's what the Hambs all about right?

  9. I gotta agree with Ichoptop. I ordered lowered spindles for my Chevy pickup as well as a set of lowered springs. HEAVY PARTS. All I paid on top of the parts was $8.95 handling and everything showed up at my door in 2 days! That was standard shipping, too! All in all I'm happy.

I gotta sympathise with anyone overseas when it comes to shipping. It is very expensive and you have to wait a long time for your stuff to show up. E

yeah seen it alot on ebay when people charge a little to much for shipping then it costs (and of course i do value the packageing and time doing it etc),
but i do feel a company selling parts should add what ever costs they have on the product instead.

i can find what ever i need without having to order from summit racing, i rather pay more for items then to get a stupid handling fee, especially if the handling fee is higher then the cost of the product.

i belive the limit is like over 100 dollars depending on what kind of item you order so if i order something with shipping etc that costs less then 50 dollars etc i don't have to pay any customs, but if i would buy something for 300 dollars and it says 25 on the package i suppose i wouldnt have to pay customs either, not that that is anything i do though, probally paied 700 dollars in customs the past 1½ years for parts anyhow, worst was when i ordered 2 jackets they had some stupid clothing extra tax when there was some kind of embargo between the us and europe, the jackets kosted like 260 inc shipping, and i had to pay 120 dollars in customs for the jackets that was not fun,

thanx for the offer but not needed at this time, cheers for the offer though

Yeah i bet they ship fast and work out real well for you guys, but just couging out an 24 dollar handling fee for an 18-19 dollar product is a joke + shipping to sweden on top of that, [IMG]

their prices are good and their selection is good, im only pissed on their handling fee,

you think you got problems? try living in canada, we got ***holes in this country that won't even ship to freakin CANADA because they "harbor DRAFT DODGERS!" [IMG]

summit has about the cheapest mail order prices, their "handling fee" is ALL you pay for shipping, it's a flat rate, so if you buy a thousand dollars worth of parts, you still pay the same handling fee. and their shipping is fast.

the few thing's i've shipped overseas have cost the buyer more to ship than the original purchase price.

i know it's the principle of the situation, but all things considered, summit ain't a bad deal, you just need to buy more! that's their ploy.
