Apparently there is a scam on line where someone is offering "Warehouse Clearance" pricing at rediculously low prices.........80% off. The site is pretty well done and looks authentic but the real Summit Racing site has a warning about the scam/scams. Might want to call Summit if you are placing an order. I can't get it to copy, but here is the warning on the summitracing.com website. BEWARE OF WEBSITES POSING AS SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT We have learned of fraudulent websites posing as Summit Racing Equipment and offering products at heavily discounted prices in an attempt to scam consumers. If you see a deal that seems too good to be true, trust your instincts. Please check the URL of the website carefully. Your order is secure at SummitRacing.com See Scam Ad below.........don't know if there are other ones, but you can see that it's too good to be true and there may be others that aren't so obvious. https://usa-summitracing.com/?utm_m...nX69cGc4KxuuGtYIhR_aem_SlWZ45SdVjptbAlUrwfUTQ
A quick look and it's not obvious. The prices are the only big giveaway (pun intended). Amazing that a big company like Summit hasn't got an injunction and slapped the site host already. Be careful out there everyone.
The scam URL is https://usa-summitracing.com/ the real URL is https://www.summitracing.com/ see the very obvious difference? Maybe if you never look at the URL of where you are browsing, you won't see it. I always look.
There was another phony discount site going on for Blueprint engines too, so pay attention. Also, S & W Race Cars is out of business and from what I've heard on another forum their website was still taking online orders. Beware!!! Things are getting crazy out there.
I almost got roped into a very similar scam, but with a big music gear retailer. I was about to pull the trigger, then I decided to type in the actual URL of the site and figured out it was a scam.
Suspect the Summit scam might be a test-run by Cyberdyne Systems... I laugh now, but not so funny when someone knocks on my door looking for Sarah Connor. Cheers, Harv
I called Summit to report it a few days ago. They had received a few calls before that. Would be easy to get sucked in.
I'm offended how lazy these scams are today. It's like they're not even trying!! $46.80 for an engine? I understand English is probably not their first language, but at least learn how decimal points work if you're going to try and scam people. Nobody takes any pride in their work anymore!! /sarcasm if you couldn't tell.
With $ 8 K shipping in / to the lower 48 ! ? I know this is & more likely scam add , I have seen many adds on FleaBay Where Item quite a bit cheaper but the shipping cost makes up the difference in the price. One thing I would like to see Summit fix is search on there web site , Its way to Broad , 20 thousand results and it should be Only a few Hundred .
2 weeks ago I was at the Summit store in Georgia, the counter guy told me they are working on a complete overhaul to the catalog.
The interesting thing about that scam site is that it has thousands of items, with images too. I assume AI was used to copy the real site complete with pictures.
Looking at the page source, this jumps out var shop_theme = {"global":{"sections":{"header":{"settings":{"nav":{"id":454597,"title":"顶部导航菜单"}," Why would a US company code in those characters? I looked at a similar Summit crate engine page and it's html. Page and source are different in a lot of respects.
These are common scams…most i see are using 70% as the hook on a “quality” name brand product…there’s a sucker on line every minute
