Hey all, I have searched and read but I can't seem to find the exact info I am looking for. I have a Sun D1 tachometer The plate on the back of some say to use and E transmitter and some say to use an EB transmitter. Does it matter which version of the "E" transmitter I use? I want to run 12V 8cyl. The EB-9A transmitter is labeled 12v 8cyl. Will the two work together or will one let the smoke out of the other one? Thanks for the wisdom Chappy
Went back into my Sun gauge spec sheets from the early 60's and below is all I can find listed. I can't imagine there's an issue using the appropriate EB transmitter.
@Mr T body , Thanks for this info... do you know if Sun ever made a E only transmitter or are all the E series transmitters EB's Thanks again
Never seen a"E" transmitter, and from the 1947 prod date it's likely a commercial panel tach you have (rather than RC, SST, etc type automotive tachs). Back then Sun didn't have many models, so I'd be surprised if there were another design available. They were heavily into commercial instrumentation back then.
I thought that said 1946, that is a real relic. Do you have a picture of the face? And I would guess it is a 6 volt although the had a battery in the sender. I would ask Williamson about your tach. Pat
@1934coupe Pic of the front... This is other side of the image above with just E listed for transmitter type. FYI, this is going on a 59ab, 12v alt.
Looked again and 1934coupe is right it's 1946. Don't know how useful a 3500 rpm tach is. Those are normally for diesels since they don't rev like gasoline.
Yeah, not sure i will ever get the 59ab flathead much above 3200rpm... I dont think I have had my "built" 8ba above 3500... not on purpose anyway...lol I guess I will give Williamson a call and see what they say. Thanks Chappy
@Chappy444 I know this is an old post but if you still have that tach let me know if you might want to sell it. Thanks!
