Does any one know who makes the kit of the yellow f100?

  4. Had my ticket booked to head to Perth for MCS, The Empire had a different idea so I went the other way. :(

Nice work on the SWC Gasser Brootal, here's one I built for a 'club' contest, the challenge being... to build a gasser.
I wondered what the SW&C team might have done if the rules allowed them to use Corvette, which would have allowed more engine setback, better weight transfer, lighter body, etc.

The car is part gasser and part fuel Altered, using engine and drivetrain components from the Willie Borsch Fuel Altered and starting with a 'stock' AMT '55 Corvette.

Other parts like front suspension and wheels came from the RM model A rat rod (these wheels and tyres are almost perfect to fix the issue with the RM Willys kits) and my junk-box.

  5. Here's one I started today.......I could never decide which way to build this old girl and today it came to me.

The kit's stock front axle makes it sit too high and the dropped axle too low, so I'll be making some adjustments there.

I hogged out the chassis rails and the axle is against the floor but the rear needs to be a tad lower.

Think I need to separate the rear fenders from the runningboard/fender assy and mould them to the body.

Here's an A pickup, stock flattie. Both ends use semi-elliptical springs for that low stance.

I added the gunk.. all it is, is green tea! i suppose black tea would be darker..but i dont have any..just plenty of green.

I stuck it to the bed using hairspray, i layered it to bulk it up some. The sand you see is baking soda i colored using acrylic craft paint, mixing a drop of paint in about 3 teaspoons of baking soda..and mixed inbetween the coarse of a day, breaking it up some with a popsicle stick works well, cause it to crumble. the key point is mixing it well and doing so over the drying time..if it hardens nto the pebbles they get very hard!

Added a pallet to see some contrast..just some bed junk i can remove. The timber log is there to stay though. its glued down by hairspray.

  9. Cool builds guys!

  10. Nice work Carps, looks like you fully plumbed, chute and all. :)

I was in a bit of a rush to finish the Willys, so I didn't bother.

That RPU is killer too, and that pick-up bed, wow! I find it much easier to just build nice and shiny stuff, but it's the old weathered crap that always gets people's attention. :)

Little update on the f100 bed..
I made my bed stakes, they started as balsa...which i found burns a little...... to easily , more on that later.

The stakes are basswood, which is i think 3/32 wide. And the planks are 1/8th i think..i forget. I started by soaking them in alcohol and ink, to grey them..really dark. I ht them with some wedge wood green with a brush. added some brown umber to the nail holes. I wanted to get some uneven rotting looking decay on the planks, so i torched them with a grill lighter..keep in mind the flame was tiny..but this stuff ignites really fast with all that alcohol in them :'( :p ..and when it burns..and flaming..and you blow it out, she turns red and continues to burn LOL..shes staying though, i can hit them with some grey paint to tone down the crispy fried wood..now to do the other side.

The camera takes shark pics (yes its on low also) and i forgot to blur them to look like they do in person..so..

i should mention i added a dent to the fender. Normally id do this before any painting..but i wanted it there so bad..so there it went..now to fix the cracked paint..il add some rust to the inside of the cracks..

  15. Took a little work but I think I got the stance 'right'. A little work on the stock front spring and it sits about halfway between 'stock' and the dropped front axle.

Removal of the rear fenders from the running boards became a necessity in order to get the tail to sit down. Had to remove most of the inner fender-well for adequate tyre clearance.

I decided I'd stick close to the car that inspired this build and mould the entire nose to the front fenders. Will require some work to fill the gap but I don't think it will be too hard.

Filling and finish sanding around the headlamps and nose area is going to be a bitch and will consume a bunch of time, but in the end will be worth it.
Fort colour, I've decided to go with traditional Honduras Maroon as shown with a saddle tan interior. I'm thinking tri-carbed finned head flatty for motivation, or maybe a multi carbed nailhead?

Still a long way to go, including the sunken license plate receptacle with glass cover and moulded in '37 Ford tailamps.
