put together something interesting from the parts box. 55 Chevy pick up front, 58 Impala rear, 64 Impala frame, BB chevy from 58 kit, dash from 58 and wheels from 64. Mid engine front wheel drive custom.
nice, I dont do much of that anymore but I just happen to have a old monogram Ford I built in the late 70's sitting hear near me, its been raced so is a little scruffy
I don't really remember what models I've posted on here before. Hell, I can't remember last week. This is a Revell '29 Model A pickup. It may look like it was built straight from the box, but there are actually several parts from 6 different kits and some scratchbuilt items. Sometimes if you build the model too subtle, no one notices the work put into it.
gtoeasy64:Those 1/43 are just killer! Styrene or diecast? Lyle:The pickup is spot-on!! My offering today is a slightly modified Hotwheels "Gangster Grin" I did for a friend I work with. He loved it.
That Hot Wheel is Wild! Lyle,...that Model A is Clean! Sounds like a lot of bashing went into it but one could never tell, it looks all great together! Nice alterations on the die-cast? Springer...I'm glad you started it off with a krazy kustom! I see some sanding in your future...way to think out of the box...It'll be wild. I, as well am more of an artist than a nuts and bolts guy. I am into showrods and show cars like the 60's & early 70's look. Here is a scratch build I did. it still needs some tweaking though. Not a traditional...just more of an Art piece. Maybe I shouldn't post this on this board, or in the friday art show...sorry if I goofed. This started life as an Infini-T kit in which I chopped the front end off and constructed a front ch***is from some sheet styrene and spare sprue. I puttied and smoothed in a skull face on both sides of the cab. I then cut out the eyes which will receive some Red Gl***. The front and back windows also recieved red gl***. I added the front wire wheels from the Outlaw kit being the ones that came with it were way too small. I then added some custom knockoffs. I then added some "Bone" radius rods connected with a steel sewing pins. The skull breather made by scaildetail(Thanks Bill!) was the given chrome eye flaps with a sewing pin on 1 side and some linkage from a sail ship model's rope rigging(kinda resembles it) I then added the radiator shell from the Paddy Wagon, nerf bars to the front as well in the back and a tail light from a mini X-mas tree decoration. Paint is Testor's 1-coat Inca Gold Lacquer base with Testor's Transparent Candy Red over it. I made a custom decal on the back to cover a mess up. This is a fidgety kit and I had some warping toward one side but I pushed and pulled and got it to fit , and then had to add some support to keep it aligned. I like how the stance turned out. I need to take some better pics in the sun light..this thing then really shines. I still want to add a drag link, streering rod, maybe open up the roof or put an LED light in the cab to light up the "eyes".
Hah..yeah like I said,..I still have a few things to tweak. I want to scribe a door in the back. The original plans on the Infiti T kit has you lifting up the cab to get in. It was more for the design aspect. It won;t run without wires and ect.too...but I'll leave that to the rivet counters. Just a fun build.
Found then Lost...found an image of a 36 ford w/ 37 headlights..using an AMT 36($10) and a roadster kit($2) and 37 buckets($1)all found at the Richmond Va. Show, I went to work.Primered the body, ragtop and ch***is.And then to the dehydrator for an hour. My jaw dropped. Going to attempt a second one using a Revell 36. Joker
Here's mine for today. I was digging thru my parts boxes awhile back and found enough parts to remake this. I believe its a Johan kit I got back in the 70's.Decals came from the Sli** web site.Nothing special but turned out nice! Mel
Thought I'd add to the topic instead of sitting back and enjoying what everyone else was doing. The current project that is taking up time and space on the workbench.
Hey Guys, Ive never posted here as it's been a long time since I built a model. For the last few weeks my son and I built a Model of sorts, his 1st pinewood derby car. While browsing the hobby shops and craft stores for Testors paints and Pinewood parts, he finally took an interest in the Model Cars and planes. It might finally be time! Here is what we built.

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=449873&highlight=bsa+pinewood+derby Question....Is it just me or do todays Testors paints act goopy, spread funny, and remain tacky much longer that the Paints of the 80's?
That's what I do, Fletch! Watching the models seems to be a whole lot more possible than actually getting one done! Ha! Ellis
not you. at some point they removed most of the nasty stuff from many lines of the paints to make them safer for kids. go with the laquers, or the one coats, or go for the tamyia paints those are my favorites and are marked 'for adult modelers only' just teach your kid right and get him a respirator!! I wish I had worn one many years back...
I was wondering....they were so thick & when you thinned them they turned instantly to water and didnt cover at all. I painted that pine car with the 1 coat laquer candy red....really nice paint. It was the little gl*** bottles that gave me the problems. Nice work guys!
Thats a cool pine car. My son and me have fun with this hobbie as well. The blue one im redoing the door body line and front end and the falcon i dug out of a box that was never finished. Now i'll finish it g***er style, thanks to gtoeasy64.

The last set I bought were by "Parts by Parks".Or try "Detail Master".I believe either is distributed through Scaledreams.com. Or,if the prices scare ya,I saw a modeler demo making his own set out of a pop can bottom.(the concave section). They looked great! Hope this helps.

B.A., I know how you feel. I showed up to Autorama in Detroit a week early a few years ago. My brother inlaw and I got there and didn't notice that there was a dog show til we actually paid and went inside. My wife still thinks its funny.
