Little shot of what I'm working on now, the Revell Black Widow Model T pickup. Building it mostly stock, but did add some more running gear - stole the tranny, driveshaft, and diff from a Chevelle kit I had. Better than no tranny, which is how the kit comes!

I'm using it mostly to practice getting into models again. I have the body smoothed and should be painting it soon.

Next is probably the '37 Pickup (lowered with modded flathead with three Strombergs), then the '32 5-window (going to attempt to chop it, will have the 409 from the Impala). Hope to get to the GMP kits (and my Cobras) someday!

    Let's drag some tail.

This is a 53 Merc built from a modified Lindberg 53 Ford Victoria kit. The roof, continental kit and skirts were scratch built. The Merc bulge was added to the Ford hood. Taillights are scratch built LIncoln. Paint is Model Masters PLum Crazy metallic.

Brings Bill Moore's Earth Angel to mind.
Bill' car is full scale. Perhaps you have seen it?

    Bingo!

I gave this car (the model, not the real one) to Bill.

    Here's a pic of the 1:1

That car is pretty well known in the KKOA circuit and so is Bill's 63 Ford Convert.
He has at least one other Merc. Maybe a Harley, or two, and much lowered Ford pickemup
    But, you know that.(insert smiley)

Bill has some nice cars. Earth Angel oozes cool, but I really like his black Merc. It has a great basic, understated look. I hope to build a model similar to that one some day too, but I'll keep it :)

  16. Man they's some talented dudes around here. Love the Merc build. My first car was a 53 Merc. Looked for 40 years hunting a model of one. Is anybody familiar with a company called Resin Realms. They've got one but it looks like it only comes with the body and chassis. What do you do to finish one like that, rob other kits is all I could figure. Here's the link.

  17. Resin Realms is a fine company, but R&R RESIN PRODUCTS ARE NOT VERY GOOD. Resin Realms sells resin products from many different resin casters. Many of the resin casters offer very good products, but the R&R '53 Merc you are looking at MAY require a lot of work to look decent. Among serious model car builders, R&R is considered near the bottom of the barrel. You would be better off starting with a Lindberg '53 Ford and some sheet plastic and replicating the Merc that way.

These Sunday models threads are rapidly becoming favorites of mine... you guys have posted some very cool work here. I'll add some that I took at this year's MSRA Back to the 50's model display. This Monogram "Little T" had a neat display using the kit box art:

And here's its bigger cousin, in 1/8 scale:

LOTS of other neat models too. Like the early dirt track car in the middle...

I know there were H.A.M.B.'ers that were helping out there - BUT it was late in the afternoon, my son and I were behind schedule to meet up with a passenger who needed a ride home, and everybody looked busy! Otherwise I'd sure have liked to have taken more pix and done some talking. Maybe next year we'll make it for the whole event instead of just one day.

I finished this one recently. AMT 34 Ford pick-up with the Ardun flathead from the Revell '50 F-1.

  22. I chopped the the newest Revell '32 kit. Chassis is kit modified with an "A" rear cross-member and spring. Added a quick-change rear. Homemade firewall and added interior steel structure. Body & frame are all hand painted with a brush. The wheels are built / modified from the parts box and I'm still looking for a good set of rear tires if anybody has some.

Womderful stuff as usual. Like many others, I always look forward to this thread. Thanx to Lyle for the wonderful kick-offs each week!

Alyn, the Earth Angel is Out Of This World. I saw it on the TRaK board but haven't gotten around to posting my appreciation.

And the 1/8th scale sprint car is just exquisite. can't wait to see more.

I just finished this early-era style altered based on a vary rough Jimmy Flinstone resin. I hope you all dig it.

Last year at Salina, Bill was telling everyone about that model. You did a great job!
Looking forward to the Model show this year...

    Happy Trails, Mick
