Haven't done much on the 2 diecast roadsters this last couple of weeks. Although have done the roll bar for the '34. You can just see it in the image, the roll bar will eventually be painted black. So to have a couple more images for this post I have attached some shots of a model I have shown before. It started life as a childs' soft plastic toy of around 1/16th in scale and as seen in the image with the blue toy in the background! A lot of work to get it to become what I call the Little Yellow Racing Team Special! Geoff aka whodaky
Schproioioing! The rod is lookin ***s-up, and that old roadster-racer is somethin' else! I'm going to a show in So Cal tomorrow, so I'll bring back pics from the Western Scale Nats in Norwalk, CA tomorrow night.
Lookin' good Geoff. I have been workin' on the full size stuff this week and don't have anything new to toss out here, but I need to finish this one so maybe puttin' the pics up will get me movin' on it again. AMT '57 Chrysler...did a new hood for it...got stuck on the grill. It's just mocked up so don't mind the bumper brackets bein' under the bumper. Olson
My latest project is a 1933 cadillac that was given to me by another model builder because he wanted to see what i'd do to it. So i took this kit and i'm trying to build something cool out of it so after seeing a certain dodge in the latest issue of Hot Rod i thought i'd build a under slung hot rod Pick up out of this kit. Mo pics this way http://public.fotki.com/Keith__Shannan/keiths_model_car/116_scale_models/1933_v-16_caddy_whack/ keith
Thanks guys. Sinkem there is a lot of green happening there. Would need sungl***es even on a dull day to drive that one. Nice work on the interior. You have got the front looking way better than stock. 61 that's going to be one big RPU. Nice wheels and tires in them big ol cl***ic car kits. Geoff aka whodaky
the wheels are fron amt's 1/16 scale mustang kit and the tires are from the caddy kit. I also have a 1/16 scale bugatti kit and it has some neat stuff in it keith
Cool stuff guys. Really starting to like that project Keith. Here's the stuff I brought home from the Pate swap meet yesterday. This thing was in the box with the Orange crate, not much to look at.. Here's the crate. I feel a Dirty2 sedan coming on.... Hmm.....Drag-n-Fly anyone?? Picked up this all original, 100% complete kit. The decals and instruction sheet were worth it. Kinda diggin' the drag idea Barris suggested. Get a load of the Ala Kart side pipes they say would look good on the bed. Hmm.....I'll p*** on that one. And it's officially Sunday...been a while since I posted in the Sunday thread ON Sunday! Haha. Goodnight folks...
Nice to score the early A tudor and all them no hole halibrands Fidgiter. Never had the tudor, but a friend I know has a couple ( but I will never get one off him, ah well ). Geoff aka whodaky
Great work guys, Geoff that roadster looks awesome! Done a bit more work to this over the weekend. I've made up the front grille which fits in with the whole 50's futuristic ****. This is only the first real mock up of the car, got a lot of things to finish still as you can see!
Wow, Whodaky- that Little Yellow Racing Team Special is beautiful....when we were cleaning out my great-uncles place after the funeral a few months ago I found one of those blue racers in a closet, missing the driver and rear axle, and still has a piece of old string tied around front axle so the kiddo's can drag it around---of course I claimed it. You guys do some cool stuff, wish I'd have saved my models from when I was a kid, I used to make "customs" with the different parts all the time... Thanks!
Very cool guys....look forward to this post every sunday. haven't touched a model in 20 some years, but you guys blow my mind away each week in the cool stuff you build
Another great week of models guys. Sinkemlow, give me some info on that paint color? What brand is it, paint color, where did you get it. Thanks, Mike.
I promised pics from the Western Scale CL***ic, so here they are. I apologize on the fuzziness of a couple of the pics. Light was low in some parts of the room, and I'd been drinkin' coffee all morning after two hours of sleep. Lots more pics here: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...ic06/?sc=1&multi=14&addtype=local&media=image
Everybody has some cool stuff happening! Gluehead, I'm diggin' that lime green machine big time. I worked on the engine for my 50 Ford a bit. Scratchbuilt the oil filter out of styrene & br*** sheet. Also, modified the fuel pump by cutting off the molded bowl, & replacing it with a piece of clear styrene, machined to shape in my Dremmel. Made the drain**** & used a .007" wire for the retainer. Lessee...other stuff like the oil filler tube was scratchbuilt. I also made a dipstick tube, but that won't go on until later. The belts are 2 layers of fine line tape painted flat black. The oil filter is gloss black in preparation for Alclad chrome to match the generator. Anyone know what type of carbs these are supposed to be? I need to find some reference shots for the linkage on the other side. Getting there. Steve SBKustoms
How close do you guys get the model itself with the camera? I tried takeing pics of mine once from 10-12 inches and the pics looked like I was 4 feet away.
I take my pics from seven to twenty-four inches away... but make sure you're shooting with a camera with a macro mode, and you're using it. Also, when you're shooting that close, you need to turn the flash off. If the flash pops, it'll wash out the entire pic. Shooting without a flash requires a steady camera - rest it on something stable.
The painted engine shot was taken with the camera 19" away. That's a newer camera I have & with that lens, it's as close as I can get. But, it's a 6.1 megapixel, so you can get large photos. The earlier photos were taken with a 2.1 megapixel that I can get about 6" away from the subject. Steve
Last night, I started cutting down the floorboard in my "new" Lil' Coffin to fit inside a '30 Phaeton I had lyin' around: more next week.
