Nice merc man, and dig the modified also, great color green to. I got a few things done on the wrecker, just made my new boom 5 mins ago. Made a tire iron from some 1/16 tubing and rod. also started the cab guard to.

You have my sympathy on the destroyed models. My son , now 18 years old did the same thing to me when he was 3 or 4. Found and destroyed a lot of stuff I built in the 60's and early 70's that were stashed away in the attic. The oldest one I have left is an altered wheelbase funny car I built in 1967. Aside from this I finished the die cast 54 Chevy I posted last week. Here's the result plus another shot of the inspiration.....
My 2 girls know not to touch my toy cars I have around the house But other kids......Young boys think there "Toys"....welll they are but not to be played with. I have a lot of broken toys.
I broke a couple of my dad's models when I was really little, I kinda remember it. Much later on, I told him he could have any of mine in return...
Not too long ago I bought a box with 8-12 models from the 60's-70's at an auction. One of the asisstant auctioneers had his son helping bring things up and take them out to the bidders. Now this wasn't a little kid, he was probably around 13. He starts taking the models out of the box and playing with them on the table. Brruuuuummmm, brrrruuuuummmm across the table. Now I appreciate a toy getting played with but I cringed watching him knock rear view mirrors off. I hated to say anything until they came up for bid. I got the box for $2 but then I did go up and tell the auctioneer that he would be wise to tell his son to not play with the stuff coming up for bid.
Wow! That wrecker is just amazing!!! I'll mix it up w/ a bubble top that has a late 60's twist from Mitch of course. Thanks joe
folks, I just sold off some extra kits but will be selling my parts bin and old build models in a week or so.. I have about 7 or 8 kit boxes of parts. I have had some feedback that folks may be interested in this stuff
Steve, not sure what I want for them yet, as i have not seen inside the box in a number of years and need to make sure my memory of whats in there is correct...
The model was painted with the exact same paint as the full size car (I painted that too ). It's a Chrysler color (PPG paint). I was concerned about the pearl in the clear coat going through my airbrush but it worked OK.
VARODDER--- Your Chevy turned out real nice. It looks to me like the 1:1 has some serious Dagmars anchoring the grill--- Looks like you used reversed headlght bucket on the model. I might be telling you something you already know but the AMT '57 Chevy that's been reissued time and time again has a great set if them Dags chromed and ready to go plus lots of other great custom pieces parts. Just an Idea.
Thanks. You are exactly right. The original grille (full size) is a combination of a 53 Desoto grille with headlight buckets from a fire truck. I have an original issue (1962) amt 57 Chevy but I didn't think about looking in that one for parts. I used some '32 Ford headlight buckets for the model which were really too big. The model grille is also too narrow, I should have used a Dremel to widen the grill opening but it was just supposed to be a quickie repaint for a friend that got a little out of hand.
Let me add to the list My 32 ford. It will stay primered, but have a red and white interior. Updates to follow in following weeks Glen
I have been real busy with school and work. I am also putting on a Model Car Swap Meet and Contest this sunday in Cedarville IL. So I am trying to finish up a few projects by sunday. Hope to see some HAMBers on sunday.
