Haven't been working on anything new. So here is a scan of a real old build, but never quite finished ( I have a lot like that! ). This was inspired by my love of old dirt tracks cars , Indy cars etc. This model was based on a much modified Monogram Edmunds Super Mod. It now runs a flathead with 2 deuces and obviously a number of changes to the super mod body. Running AMT wires and hand cut dirt trackers on the rear. Paint design was borrowed from a friend's real vintage dirt track cars. Geoff aka whodaky
I like it. Don't we all? Haven't done anything worth showing off, a little work on Don's A but that's about it.
Whodaky, You nailed it! That is one sweet ride. Widen it enough and you would have a neat little 2 seat hot roadster. Gordon
Who, unfinished models aplenty in my stash too. Some of them are so close to being finished that it's just retarded that they aren't. Others have a literal assload of work done...extensive scratchbuilding, modifications, detailing, etc. and really don't need all that much to be done but are missing that one special part. Then of course there are the aborted projects...the what the hell was I thinkin' projects...they all make great parts cars. Still got nuttin' new to show off! Olson
sunday isn't for another 5 and half hours here in dallas. the sunday model post always throws me off.
That sprint car is a beaut! Speaking of unfinished models, I started on my first model in years a few weeks ago, a Revel Jeep. I painted the chassis a flat black and set is aside to dry. When I looked at it a few minutes later, the chassis had bent out of shape slightly. I'm guessing that when the paint (not model paint!) cured it warmed the plastic a bit. Anyone know how to correct this? Maybe a blow-dryer or warm water? Or am I hosed?
I know that kit. If you hold the frame against the body does that straighten it up? If it does I'd just glue it in place. If not, yeah...soak it in pretty warm (not super hot!) water for several minutes then hold it tweaked in the opposite way. When you let it go it will come back on ya some. Olson
Seeing as you guys liked this one. ( I sometimes wonder if people will enjoy what I show! ). I had this other shot of the midget that I took when I was working on it. I really like the background I used, a shame it is a bit blurry; but I think it is worth showing. Geoff aka whhodaky
Ive been working really hard on my project to try and have it fully done for the east coast NNL next april (its a long shot), so heres some pics. I added some fender flares, extended the hood, and built the grill opening.
That is very cool Whodaky, I like it a lot. Since it's still Saturday here....I'm gonna sneak this one in. Started it last night and finished it tonight. Maybe 3 hours into the whole thing. It's certainly not my best work, but it looks good on the shelf. I built it because I stole the wheels and tires from the kit and had the whole thing left over. Torqe thrusts always look good on a C2.
I bought one of those for the trailer. Now I may just build the car. That would look good on the shelf at the shop.
Wow ! That Valencia style Chevy makes me sweat ! Love that un-sectionned trunk ! Chad , you're working an a very very wild Chev...don't ya ?
.....Dude........you have to remember that this Internet thing hooks us up with people all around the world. "Whodaky" is in Australia where Sunday begins MANY hours before it does here in North America..........we go through the same thing with the "Friday Art Show".........
Heres the final headlight french that I started last week, and the finished grill opening. If you guys are getting tired of seeing slow progress on the same goddamn model, let me know, I just work slowly.
Hey guys, I'm a newbie and I hope you don't mind me jumpin' in. Man, you guys are showing some great work! I love hearin' stories of model projects that get pulled out of hybernation and finished. That l'il dirt track car is sweet! Here are pics of my last finished project. I did all the surgery on the body 13yrs. ago and then it sat for 10yrs. cuz I got burnt out on trying to get all straight. I finally got tired of seeing it unfinished on the shelf and dug deep to get it done. Hats off to all of you that are resurrecting old projects! Hope you like it:
Hey Ferb, welcome back to the HAMB. I really like the corvette side scoops on that hardtop. It's hard to pick a favorite, especially after seeing your other hartop. Do you still have this one? Here are couple of my old ones. Nothing built lately.
wow Ferbz, very nice! Did you use the Replicas and Miniatures, or the model car garage sombrero's? Chad
Oh yes, Ferbz has some very nice stuff too and i think he knows i'm a bit impatient to see his collection ! And mike , your vicky with the Goulard front end look nice ! I had to put this neat stuff on a shoebox too ! It's 11pm in france, so may be it's still time to post an old man i'm working on ...
Thanks Chad s! I think the Sombreros were from Model Car Garage. They're really nice pieces. I also used Gold foil for the crest in the center to spice it up a bit.
Yea, I was going to turn them on my lathe myself, but without making a purpose cut tool, they are very hard to make a set of perfectly matching ones. For $15, the MCG ones make more sence. Im going to turn a set of center bullets for my car, so the center cap isnt an issue.
Yup. I still have the Chrysler. It's got one of my best Candy jobs on it. God knows I've messed up alot of Candy paint jobs along the way! BTW, I always thought that 40 Sedan was crazy-cool!
