I liked it better when we had a new thread every week seems to work better Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I liked it better as a weekly thread as well. Didnt have to go the last page and then back up to see where this week's contributions started. Maybe I'm getting lazy in my later years.
Although I post infrequently, I enjoyed the new thread each week. I would like to see the same title used each week without much deviation. I have noticed that continuing threads die eventually.
Often very quiet around this time of the year (northern hemisphere anyway) as Spring and Summer mean that lots modellers with 1/1 cars are out enjoying the warmer weather. That's what I think anyway. But it sure is quiet ain't it? Back to every week new Sunday Models suits me also, hopefully posters wont try and post up under various names and cause confusion. IMHO Sunday Models IS Sunday Models Really do look forward to this thread each week Rod
I'm building a replica, in 1/8 scale, of a 1974 Beck pavement sprint car. The guy I'm doing this for, had it completely restored and then destroyed it in a racing deal up in Oregon last summer. Body is fiberglass and the rest is styrene. http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/Ken_Meaders/0f7b02a2-b1c8-424d-bad8- fde933a51b02_zps3a5f6c6c.jpg
I looked back on every page,. my against posts were deleted mate. I'm sure it slows down at this time of the year.
Summer is always slow. I haven't had time to model since I pounded out those 2 for the last build-off. Working 7 days/wk at work. Have a '54 Chevy going that I almost work on every night.
Still working on the '58 Bonneville, no recent pix. Added some weather stripping and window channel detail to the side window opening and shaved some trim off, including the fake vents on the front fenders. Just to add a visual to the thread, here's a shot of my build of the old Monogram "Black Widow" rpu kit.
As much as I liked the "Black Widow" model in black (I'd built it my self) This looks GREAT! the period glue and paint is neat!
Haven't had a whole lot of time to work on the '58 Bonnie – an hour here and hour there kind of thing. Anyway, managed to add some weatherstripping and window channel along the inside edge of the roof using styrene strip. The little gap above the vent window will close up when the roof is finally cemented on. Also added a ledge inside the roof for the rear window to fit against. Shaved the "Bonneville" script off the front fenders and worked on the headlight fit, removing moldlines and refining contours around the light bezels. Also shaved those crazy fake vents off the driver's side fender (still have to do the passenger's side.) A little kit accuracy trivia: the real car has four of those things on each side while AMT added five! Have also been prepping parts for plating, including stripping the head and taillights, and cleaning up a second rear bumper for the final build, removing moldlines and Pontiac's non-functional "exhaust ports." Also working on the fit of this piece. " Misfortune struck last night after I had done a quick "tape 'n screw" mockup assembly to take to our club meeting when I knocked the model in its box onto the basement floor! Landed on the roof almost cracking it all the way in half. Repairable, but kind of disheartening!
